We all know how Manga's work, more than likely it's been 1,000 years and the fruit will ripen.
Someone's going to eat it ( Madara or Sasuke IMO ) Gain some godlike powers and stop teh Juubi tree.

Why? Whenever something is mentioned to happen every '500 years' or 'Thousand years' It happens in the manga, to the main character, no questions asked.

What if Sasuke got the Body of the Juubi ( Like the Senju did ) and Naruto got the Eyes ( Like the uchiha )
That'd put them both on Rikudou terms, Full powered Rinnegan compatible shinobi.
