Fix't

Alright.... The thing about laptops is that upgradability is very bad. Your Intel HD "Graphic card" is actually part of the processor (CPU). Unlike a desktop you cannot just replace it with a better one and Intel HD "graphic cards" have compatibility issues with many games. You can upgrade your RAM and your hard drive on a laptop and that is about it. Your Processor and Graphic processor cannot be upgraded unless you are part of the 1% of laptops that actually allow you to upgrade your graphics card.

You can't just put any gpu in any laptop and doing so will void any warranty you have on it, considering you want to game I would of just bought a better laptops you are pushing it with the quality of your CPU and the amount of ram you have.

Changing a graphics card on a laptop is almost impossible for a layman. Some graphic cards are attached to the CPU, so even if you wanted to you couldn't change it. Any specifications on the box when you get a laptop other than RAM or HD is always what you're stuck with. 8 gigs of RAM would've been better if you were planning to play PC games on your laptop as well.

I should probably mention that internal graphic cards like that use your RAM for their memory. So that 4 GB is spread between holding your game data and remembering all the graphic data. 4GB is enough to play Skyrim on a desktop though.

Never played skyrim on a computer and I don't know whether skyrim is a particularly CPU or gpu/ram intensive game (would have guessed the second) but I would of thought that 4 gb is the absolute minimum to play with everything on low and shit fps. But with gaming personally I wouldn't go below 6gb at a push 8gb to be safe like crutch said.

is there any certain brand of ram that i should put in my laptop than others? or are they all pretty much the same?
I don't think RAM would help where the GPU card fails.
It should just help processes run more smoothly, but I think your 4gb are rarely entirely used.

If you get a laptop nowadays and expect it to run games decently, it should have at least an i3 or an i5 processor, and an actual video card, not an internal one. ;S

thanks for the help guys. Actually just learned a lot. Ive been playing skyrim tho, its just lil choppy any easy quick fix??
If you can, turn the settings down further if not you could try overclocking if its possible on your laptop if not just add more ram

Make sure the ram you got is 1600 MHz as if your 4 gb of ram is a single 4gb of 1200mhz then it's definitely not enough, also more sticks lower memory e.g. 2x2gb >1x4gb

There are many types of RAM, and above that laptops and desktops have different types of RAM as well. So no, all RAM are not the same. In fact, buying the wrong type of RAM could end up to be a waste. I would recommend Kingston or whatever that thing made by Samsung is called. But if you aren't completely sure what type of RAM to get, it would be best to ask someone to look over your computer before you buy it. It would be better if you got them to upgrade the RAM as well. If you don't know what you're doing, I don't think you should be opening up a laptop and possibly cause permanent damage if you're careless.

Flaw is right, like I said above buy a better laptop if you can still return it as your main problem is your processor and integrated graphics card, not to mention its going to be intel hd graphics which is like one of their worst integrated cards.

i used US Dollar
You won't have a chance of getting a laptop with a dedicated graphics card for that except on places like eBay, if you want to buy from a retailer I would go refurbished because of the amount and then just go for the best processor you can get and by extension best integrated graphics, try something like this

I can't promise it won't still lag, it will be better though.
The best option if possible is to either get one on finance (only if you get 0%apr or can get a credit card with 0%apr for long enough that you can pay it off) or just save up till you have a better amount to spend I personally wouldn't spend less than $800 on a gaming laptop but I live in England and stuff is alot more expensive over her so you could probably find an ok one for around $550
