Exactly. Rin's death is hurting Kakashi more than Obito and Obito's actions are only making him feel worse. You don't seem to understand. Even after Nagato's true identity was revealed, he didn't feel the need to go into an endless banter about his backstory. Yahiko wasn't the focal point of his actions as Rin was for Obito. I want you to ask yourself this, if Rin never died, and was alive to this date, would Obito have become the man he was today? I want you to stop for a moment and take Rin out of the equation. Now let me ask you, is there still a plan? Is there anything driving Obito to continue with this war? Listen to everything that Obito says and take out everything that has absolutely nothing to do with Rin. If you answer no to any of these questions, or you can do the last task I asked you, you just proved my point.

Obito's goal is much larger than that & rin was merely the catalyst. Yes if rin was alive then obito would be good but if she was dead then he would still be good as well. Madara was the one who pulled the trigger & twisted his ideals, he didnt decide to wage war all by himself, lol.

Naruto also went berserk & fell to his darkness due to kurama's influence, if minato wasnt there to comfort him then kurama would've taken over. Same concept with obito, if minato was there to comfort him instead of madara then there is absolutely no way that he would be the way he is, therefore rin is not the reason for his defection but rather the influence caused by madara who pushed obito & gave him all the resources he needed.

Dont forget that madara is around a decade old, obito was 14, madara knows of the uchiha's emotional state, & teenagers can be easily influenced. These are all factors that you must consider otherwise you are just hating as I said earlier .

People are looking at it too simplistically. Obito had already noticed something important before, but when it affects you personally, you will take it more seriously. Here's a hypothetical example, say I knew drug dealing was wrong, but didn't really care about if before, if the person I loved died because of that very 'trade', if I could completely change it and was given the opportunity I would. Obito was given the chance to change the fate of the world because what Madara told him about the world becoming an endless cycle on winners and losers was becoming true before his eyes.

The fact that Rin had to die for the sake of others and he had to be wounded for others to have peace and the countless other examples, he saw that trying to protect his friends was useless, he lost hope. Naruto is the opposite to this so Obito cannot have hope and 'get over it', that is the point of his character. I hate the constant Rin flashbacks and I understand why people hate the character but that's down to Kishi, he's messing up a character with the potential to be the best.
