We don't know much about the legendary weapons. But it was never stated that he got them alone. If Sasuke will eventually get them (i'm not saying he will) we'll find out more about them. But as far as i'm concerned it was never confirmed that he found them by himself.

Seeing as how Susanoo has owned the totsuka blade his entire life, and itachis was the first susanoo to be shown, it could have just been kishi giving itachi a badass sword.
because in the myth susano had the swrd, and when he killed the yamata no orochi he found the sword of kusanagi (oro's sword)
kishi might have not really thought it out and just gave itachi an op ability because he knew he was gonna kill him off.

How do you know that he got them at the same time?

He could've easily gotten them during the timeskip. Part 1 he wasn't seen with Susano'o. He could've gotten them during shippuden.

Itachi vs Kakashi = Draw. They have similar abilities and are difficult to beat.
Itachi vs Sasuke = Tough to say but i give it to Sasuke because he's faster more skilled then Itachi
Itachi vs Nagato = Nagato hands down
Itachi vs Orochimaru = Itachi
Itachi vs Pain all of them = Pain
Itachi vs Kabuto = Itachi we all seen what happened.
Itachi vs Kisame = This one is very hard because Kisame has tailed beast like chakra. But I'll give it to Itachi
Itachi vs Raikage = Itachi
Itachi vs Neji = a fight that needs to happen but never has. the battle of the century and the winner would be Itachi with extremely high difficulties
