While I'm a Sasuke fan, Minato said that because of what Sasuke told Naruto last chapter about worrying and was telling Naruto he needed to start analyzing the battle since he asked about Minato's FTG. In this chp, it's clear that Naruto took Sasuke's advice and immediately made use of the info he just learned from his dad in order to save him and Sasuke. That's why Minato said Naruto was keeping up with Sasuke.

I understand that, but why was he such an enigmatic mastermind when he had the Tobi gimmick? That's right, because he was impersonating Madara and mimicking his mental prowess in order to proceed with the plan.

Mimicking his mental prowess? Don't act like Madara was such a huge part of the plan when Obito did all of the actual work. Disguising himself as Madara, collecting Bijuu, fooling the world, competing with Itachi and Orochimaru and Kabuto, cultivating the Zetsu army, manipulating Nagato, etc.
Tobi is an enigmatic villainous mastermind.
What's wrong with me liking that more than what we have now? I'm merely admiring the power of what we have now, not his character.
