Anime are cartoons

Im just gona try to put an end to this, ANIME ARE CARTOONS, but things are diffrent in japan than here, in the west cartoons are for kids so dont have much tought into them since they have a young audience, in japan animation is much bigger kinda like movies in the west, so like movies they arent just aimed towereds kids, theyr for a wider audience so deal with mature themes, so when thinking of anime just dont think of spongebob, think of movies.

i believe anime is different to that of a cartoons like you said anime deals with more mature storys and its far more respected and anime is its own genre with sub genres so i dont think its right to call them cartoons

they're not cartoons, anime is has its own style and art form when i say anime what comes to mind it will be stuff like naruto, death note not spingebob or tom and jerry
so is it right to say that if somebody ask me what my favorite anime is i could count the looney toons
anime deserves a seperate catogarey to that of cartoons consider it sub genres of animation

That and cartoons like Young Justice for example was "more mature" although calling something an anime for being more mature is stupid. It's all cartoons. Everything is an animated thing. No live action. All animated. It's all cartoons.

Hmmm.. I wouldn't go so far myself, as it is being of Japanese produce that's making it is so different(different cultures and so on usually being the reason), but that doesn't stop any one anime from resembling a Western cartoon, which they seldom do looking to the details, but still can. So I, at least, wouldn't consider it being its own genre as much as I would it being of Japanese produce rather than American, Swedish, Finnish or whatever. Doesn't that sound reasonable?
