Orochimaru is a pure academic. I'm sure there's a reason for his wanting to abandon his "wanting Uchiha inside him" perspective briefly. Orochimaru is a Kahn. He seemingly helps in the main drive against Evil, but then will abandon it for his own fruitions at the last second or until after its over. What will happen at the end when Akatsuki is vanquished and the Edo Kages are still officially under Orochimaru's control? Will he continue his drive or abandon it and seek new opportunities for knowledge?

I believe he's gonna wait to see how Sasuke's path will go for a bit longer and then strike when he loses interest and go back to his true ambition, I don't see him putting aside his lifelong ambition for Sasuke's sake.
