Obito is 4years older than Kakashi

Now that i think about it, Kakashi's age during Kakashi gaiden was never revealed. We know he became genin at 5, chunin at 6, but nothing mentions at what age exactly he became jounin(not even databook). Only Obito's age of death was revealed(13). So we know Obito was 13 during Kakashi gaiden, but what about Kakashi's age? We all came to the conclusion that since they were in the same team, they were the same age, but i think it was a mistake. It doesn't make sense. I'll explain why

Kakashi and Obito did not advance at the same rate.

Kakashi became genin at 5 according to databook.
Obito became genin at 9

We know that they entered Academy at the same time, which already prove that there is a 4year difference between the 2

Like i've said, Kakashi became genin at 5 when Obito became genin at 9. A year later(so Kakashi being 6 and Obito 10) they participated at the same chunin exam

Jealous of his rival, Obito trained in order to pass the next chunin exam, a year later(at 11)

So like you can see, it coincidate with what databook says concerning it. Obito really became chunin at 11(when Kakashi was 7)

And it's 1 or 2years later somewhere before the start of Kakashi gaiden, that Kakashi became jounin

So during Kakashi gaiden, Kakashi was 9, not 13 like we believed. Obito is the one who was 13(Rin as well since she followed the same steps Obito did)

That also explains the significant difference in size between the Kakashi in Kakashi gaiden and the one during Kyubi's attack. The same goes for Obito. So, nope, not only 1 or 2years passed between Kakashi gaiden and that event, but many more. We know Kakashi was 26/27 at the start of the serie, so during Kyubi's attack that happened 12years before, he was 14/15. Since Obito is 4years older, he was 18/19 during the Kyubi's attack

No you have to realise, that when Obito became a chunin Rin and Kakashi and etc were still in a group. So, even though he graduated early, they were still in Team Minato.

I'm Bogard lol. What you don't realise is that Kakashi and Obito are supposed to have become genin at the same periode like it's proen in the manga, and since it's the case, Obito and Kakashi can't have the same age, since Kakashi was 5 when he became genin when Obito was 9

sorry but its been confirmed for a long time kakashi became appointed jounin at the age 13. rin kakashi and obito were all the same age, as kakashi rose through the ranks its likely he was put in team minato with obito and rin as a chuunin. thus thats why it seems complicated why they were in same squad

I really like your theory! But I honestly dont see how he looks 6 in that photo. He has always looked the same age, and all Konoha team members have been around the same age (Neji, Ten-Ten & Lee are a year older than the rest I think). However, having a 4 year difference makes no sense. If Kakashi became a Jounin during the Gaiden, and you claim Obito was 3, it implies that Kakashi became a Jounin at 9. There is no way that Minato would let a 9 year old lead a team, regardless of his abilities. It really doesnt make sense.

Think about it from the love triangle point of view. Is it realistic for a 13 year old Rin to be liked by a 13 year old, yet shun him for a 9 year old? She graduated at the same age as Obito, and probably the same time, so they are likely to be the same age.

Here it states that Obito became a Chunin at 11. He graduated at the same time that Kakashi became a Jonin.

However, I understand your theory and cant really find much of a flaw in your logic. It just doesnt make sense from Kishi's or a general plot point of view. Maybe it wasnt intended for us to look at this in such detail and to accept that they should be around the same age. Alternatively, I think we cant assume that the entirety of Kakashi Gaiden took place in one year.

We can use Itachi's age to identify the age of kakashi during during the 3rd great war.

As we know in part 1 kakashi was 26-27
Itachi was 17-18

Part 2 kakashi - 30
Itachi 21

Basically there is roughly a 9 year gap between them.
Think we can all agree with that, that is cannon.

How long do you think the war took place? 1year? 2? Do you think that the war ended in Kakashi gaiden? Obviously not. We've seen that even after destroying the bridge, Kakashi and Rin were fighting elsewhere. We've seen the skirmich between Minato, Raikage and Bee. So how do you know when exactly a 4years old Itachi saw what was happening. Years of war could have passed even after Kakashi gaiden. I think my timeline is the most accurate
