Hiruko used techniques of this nature through a mark on his left hand. This mark resembles two diamonds, one overlapping the other. Chakra is absorbed through the upper square, while it is released and manipulated through the lower. Its weakness is the same as the Ce Dark release which is wind release

Actually Im about to go into an in depth explanation of its strengths and weaknesses. To be honest, I hate them at the moment butwe have to just bare with it =|

Firstly in the movie, we saw Hiruko absorb the chakra into the square like you said, using the "Inhaling Maw" and then release it from the bottom square using "Judgement." Though in the anime they didnt show much of how it interacted with the other elements other than Chidori and Rasengan. So in the RP, Scorps and the mods agreed on a few things from which they observed and came to create this:

Absorption ability:
Weak to: Earth and Water. Dark Release is used to absorb and redirect chakra and energy in general. This makes it so that while it can absorb the chakra in Earth and Water techniques, it will have a difficult time absorbing the Earth itself or the Water produced by techniques since it doesn't work exactly like a Fuuinjutsu technique. Earth suffers double strength towards the absorbing ability of Dark Release (meaning that only an S-Rank Dark release can absorb a B-Rank Earth technique).

Strong to: Raw chakra, Fire, Lightning, Wind and other forms of raw energy like Storm, Dust, Scorch or even raw Sage Jutsu. Raw chakra absorption and redirection is the core of Dark Release, making it gain double strength towards it (B-Rank Dark overcomes S-Rank Raw Chakra).

Release ability:
Weak to: Earth and Water. Both elements have substance and density to defend from raw forms of energy like those produced by dark release after the absorption of a technique. Other solid elemental forms may serve the same purpose, such as Solid Ice, Steel, Wood or Lava

Strong to: Wind and Fire. Both elements lack the substance and strength needed to actually overcome or even deal with the raw form of energy produced from dark release after absorbing a technique. Other intangible or less tangible elements such Snow (basically, snow based ice techniques), Sand, Rain, Steam, Boil, etc may also be susceptible of being overcome by the raw energy of Dark Release.

So as you can see,when youre absorbing techniques through the square, its strong to Raw chakra attacks (Rasengan etc), Fire, Wind and lightning, pretty much energy based.

And when you release that energy in "judgement" or any other dark release technique its strong against wind and fire... and the rest thats listed


Now for the weaknesses of both. When you absorb Earth or water based elements that have substance its like you will extract the chakra from it but the water or earth will still be left behind. Then for earth it suffers a double weakness meaning S Rank Dark = B Rank Earth (For absorption)

As you can see, its severely raped, and honestly I had to switch bios because its so f*cked up, it made it hard to have fun.

Yeah man its a headache, but it still rapes V_V

Its main purpose is to absorb and release but you can create customs to "release" all different types of uniques techniques. Scorps doesnt allow some customs to be approved without it stating that you absorb chakra first (High ranks). but yeah it doesnt do anything else besides absorbing and releasing. But as far as releasing, that can be tweaked a bit with Cj such as making things come from the ground or air like it was an actual element. When it was first made, it was made to be a real element, but then it got fodderized to what you see above..
