What does it mean exactly ? Many could break it down and speculate, but since there is so many ways to interpret the name it could be quite confusing to pin point the exact meaning without confirmation from kishi himself.

So for the threads sake i would like for people to guess what type of space time technique it could possibly be if it is one at all.

I theorize that its a slash from his sword that cannot be blocked. The technique cuts through space time itself.Kinda like the resenshuriken in terms of cutting power, but of the highest caliber separating molecules into two.

What do you think ?

(For all we know minato could of also been talking about edo tensei as well since there is no way to clarify)(Also it could of have something to do with suiton since he is known for being able summon torrents of water from nowhere.)

It's a high speed movement. An early version of minato's S/T technique, which explains how he knew it.

Hiraishin is translated as FTG which is in fact Minato's technique..... but Giri means 'moral obligation' which quite does not quite match the context here, but do note Kiri means blade and this may be a possible mistranslation.

There is no way in discerning that its a early version of the minato's S/T technique.
If its hinted at or suggested then i would be right behind you making the same case. However, that is not the case.

Though,you could be right.

Either it is some earlier version of what came to be the FTG like staticdash22 said or its a whole other technique all together.
I think it might be the latter and not the former since the context of the words and the word itself can be broken down and interpreted more then one way through romanji and kanji which ends with words potentially holding multiple meanings.

Its like a flying thunder god but with a sword slash. It's the fastest sword attack in the narutoverse.

its simply a high speed movement with a sword slash, not S/T

Quite possible as we have Raikiri which means 'lightning blade' but also we have Kirikagure which means 'hidden mist' ....... Japanese is a confusing language but lets wait for *********** and Viz for further clarification.

its just a slash from his sword. minato probably named his space time jutsus after tobirama's kenjutus out of respect.
It's the fastest sword attack in the narutoverse
way to make shit up

Jeez, this is what i hate. we've known tobirama has s/t forever now. and finally after ages his repertoire is expanded, but we still have to do this whole inch by inch thing. i like how the manga is going, but does every little thing have to be a mystery.

I hate how people are saying Minatos FTG is nothing compared to Tobiramas, we got no proof that Tobiramas Hirashin Giri was a space time jutsu. Even if it was, it was stated that Obitos was the first one that did not require markings.

if it was really like FTG with a sword slash i think Izuna would've been cut in half, or been much more injured/died a lot quicker...just a theory though.

Yes, we've known for a long time Tobirama has s/t.

Well actually if it involved Tobirama or his sword teleporting, which I believe it does, then I imagine it would be hard to aim. If you're moving instantaneously you can't really make adjustments to your path or your swing.

Personally, I just think Tobirama got a good slash on Izuna with his sword. Just because Tobirama shouted out something doesn't mean it was necessarily a S/T jutsu...or even a jutsu at all, for that matter. You all know how manga/anime characters have the tendency to name every swing of their sword as a different kind of technique. At least, a lot of the time they do.

Just my thoughts. =]

So just because Kishi calles the guy in you sig 'Tobi' doesnt mean that he is Obito just because their names are simillar? Déjà-vu

Lets face it, Kishi doesnt hide hints and spoilers from us. We knew before this chapter that Tobirama had S/T Ninjutsu - we dont know how advanced it was but we know he had it. Now, how many Uchiha do you know that get hit by a simple sword attack even though they have Mangekyou Sharingan and battleexperiance from countless war-like szenarios? You can think whatever you want, but the probability for this technique to be S/T jutsu is beyond the 90% mark.

So why did it not slice Izuna in half? Well, I'd guess that his technique was not as good as Minatos and didnt make use of 'exit-marks' like Minatos FTG did. Instead he would just go by eyesight, thus beeing inaccurate. Remember, his edo-tensei was also incomplete.

Of course this is no proof for anything, but I highly doubt Kishi would give us all that informtion for nothing. In my eyes he wants to close the gap between Naruto and the Senju Clan and this is the currently missing peace. But we shall see...
