Itachi should really be thankful to Naruto

Before the usual flaming that comes from Itachi fans when someone show his failures, i would like to point out that i'm not bashing Itachi, but want people to answer me this

Many times in this manga, it's said that Itachi was a spy in Akatsuki, but what did he really accomplish while being there? As far as i remember, he was always helping the enemy(Akatsuki) if anything else:

• He helped kill Gaara (by stalling Kakashi's rescue crew, and helping to rip the beast out of Gaara), and Gaara was, and is, a firm ally of Konoha that would never let Suna go to war with it.
• He helped recruit Deidara to Akatsuki, and assisted in them getting the rest of the bijuus.
• Itachi did nothing to stop Pain (the operating leader of Akatsuki) or give Konoha info on him (Jiraiya got all the intel on Pain at the cost of his life), and Pain crippled Tsunade and killed Jiraiya/Kakashi (who was basically the backup Hokage). Itachi also put Kakashi in the hospital 3 years ago, to the point where he was comatose that only getting Tsunade back could heal him.
• Itachi also had Oro in his clutches 7 years ago or whatever the timeline is, and he let someone that evil and anti-konoha go apparently, who ended up killing Hiruzen.
• Oh, and his failure to stop Obito (with Sasuke eye-trap or prior to that trap), who is messing up the world right now, which also got his brother to kill Danzo who was Hokage at the time of his death.

Just giving some intel on Madara(Obito) and Pain (apparently he knew of Nagato) would have been nice for Konoha too

Naruto is the one who spent his time to clear all his failures. Naruto got Chiyo to revive Gaara, got Tsunade to come back to Konoha to heal Sasuke and Kakashi and be Hokage after Hiruzen's death, beat Pain and convinced Nagato to revive everyone killed by his actions for akatsuki, is dealing with Obito and the free-roaming Madara, and Itachi left Sasuke to be Naruto's problem without Shisui's Koto to help now

So actually the real saviour here has always been Naruto. He is the one who did everything to hide Itachi's failures, so he should really be thankful for everything Naruto accomplished and will accomplish in the future

OT: Of course, Itachi failed a lot, but he did all he could have done under the circumstances. If he were to openly betray the Akatsuki, then he would've been killed. As for Orochimaru, no sh*t that's plot no jutsu. Orochimaru is still very relevant to the story.

Hmm, Itachi should definitely be grateful to Naruto for all the reasons you listed, but at the same time, what could Itachi do? Itachi had to make it seem like he was always the enemy, if he gave away the possibility of being a spy, that could jeopardize Konoha even more, or more importantly to Itachi it could even jeopardize Sasuke.

He wasn't a spy per-se but a guardian to make sure Tobi never acted against Konoha. While he was alive no one from akatsuki attacked konoha, except for orochimaru who even Pain and Tobi couldn't take care of permanently apparently. All in all he did his job.

the last thing I want to do is give the impression that I'm not agreeing with you however, being a spy for konoha, he had to do certain things in order to prevent from being caught as a spy. Also could not do certain things in order to keep his secret hidden. Not only that, but probably another reason why he helped the akatsuki, didn't kill orochimaru, and or help to stop pain was probably because it would have either A. be found out he was a spy, or B. the truth about why he killed the clan would have been revealed. As a spy it's your duty to convince your enemy that you are with them. In order to do that you have to be willing to kill your allies or help the enemy to win when really you are just gathering info and secretly giving it to your ally so they can prepare and win.

Firstly contrary to the popular belief, i'm not a Itachi hater. He is even my third favorite character if anything else. I just hate his fanboys. Secondly, why don't you ask this question to all Itachi fanboys who can't spend a day without wanking him every seconds?

Itachi had to work as a spy in the most dangerous organization of all, the Akatsuki.

Yes he helped with the capture of Gaara, who although being an ally of the Leaf village, was actually of the Sand village. Itachi had made an agreement with Obito that as long as he was alive, he would not be able to attack the Leaf. So in this way, he had always protected Naruto, the Jinchuriki of the Leaf. This was his agreement.

I agree with you when you make the point that Itachi could have given more intel on Pain, however we do not know the details of the situation he was in at the time. He had to always remain convincing to Akatsuki, and could not allow his cover to be blown, hence the fact that had he killed Orochimaru when Oro had also been part of akatsuki, it would simply have looked suspicious.

Let's remember also, that we do not know how much intel and information the konoah elders have held to themselves, because they have always seemed a bit shady.

I rate Itachi. It has already been said he made no emotional ties to anyone, he was simply a NINJA in all his heart and LOYAL to Konoah. He did more for Konoah than most because he spent his entire life protecting them yet being villainised.

He DID THANK NARUTO ALSO let's remember that.
