Dragonball Z was everybody's favorite anime at some point when they were kids, hell I loved the series so much. But now when I'm watching the DBZ it's just not the same as it was back when I was a kid. I guess the only reason I got into it was because of the action, explosions, and the cool powers like the Kamehamaha or the Galick Gun.
I guess I still retain some likeness towards it, but it's only for the nostalgia. Other than that I don't really think the plot is that great I think it's kinda redundant. There's little depth in the characters, but there is one particular character who I believe has the most depth out of all of the cast:
MAAAAAAAN F*CK DAT DUDE I'M TALKIN BOUT THIS GUY!
So yeah I believe that DBZ is overrated, but you gotta look at a bigger picture. Yeah they fight all the time, but there's also progression in the characters. For example, Goku used to beat the bad guys with his kaioken
And now he's defeating characters like Majin Buu with Super Saiyan 3
In every plot in the story, characters had to train to get stronger (except for Yamcha lol) and that shows progression which I can appreciate from this series.
And the whole series in general offered the message of always be pure of heart, or always be forgiving through the character of Goku. In a way, despite his recklessness and disfavor of studying, Goku can serve as a role model for us to be basically be good people who do good things.
So when you look at the plot it's kinda sh*t, but the progression definitely makes the show alot better I mean I always wondered why I always watched on youtube Goku turning Super Saiyan for the first time, or Vegeta's first time going golden hair. Because I like to see the progression in the characters and that's enough for me when it comes to Dragonball Z.
So what are your opinions? Do you think Dragonball Z is overrated? Why do you still enjoy the show?
