They where meant to be judged as a duo always in my view , but I guess if he was alone he probably could stall but not really attack(unless he could summon his families pets) as he put to much time in a duo that probably wont last longer then 20 years from akamaru being an dog and all... but hey this is the naruto verse he might live to be 200(not saying I think that)

Well, akamaru is his main tool that he uses for fighting practically everyone. Taking akamaru out of the equation would pretty much cut his power level in half. He is still a fairly decent combatant with his beast-like taijutsu and is an excellent tracker(perhaps the best sniffer in Konoha), but it would likely put him as a solid chuunin(not low or high).

I beg to differ, its just that kishi has naruto on a whole new league then most of everyone else(like pretty much all anime)
So side characters that are actually powerful seem like ants that usually end up getting into the main character's pants with their problems...
