Hello everyone this thread is about dreams itself and how surreaslistic they seem to be. Im not sure if you all have heard of the multi universe theory or not but to me dreams are the connection between the universe we believe in ourselfs and the vast that may or may not exist. When i say may or may not exist i mean is that if you strongly believe in something it will be something. Seeing is not believing, however believing is seeing. When you dream im more than sure that you all have dreamt living different but similair lives. But that is the thing are they dreams or do they really exist? Sometimes i feel that we all have one singular concience living in a multitudes of ourselves that transfer between our bodies through sleep or death. I know it strange, but there are people that claim and im pretty sure you have as well where you wake up saying "did that just happen?" "was this really real?" again it comes down to believing is seeing. Its like any other beliefs, If you belive in your diety or religion then it means that it exist for you and you will see it. That alone means that you live in your own universe based on what you want to believe in, and if you can accept that you live in your own universe then that means that everyone on earth lives in there own universe. But how far does the meaning of universe spread out to? Its an infinite amount of space that is never ending. So when we dream are we exploring our universe expading our conscious through multiple bodies living separate lives and learing to live in our main point of reality?

Yeah sorry guys i know its strange but these are things i often think about...

It's all in the mind, a very powerful thing. As for the meaning/ purpose of dreams, I dont think that can be answered.

... ooooor dreams are simply your unconscious mind getting bored and piecing together random memories to create something new.

Yay neuroscience! :D
I would say this is true, however when you dream you cannot access all of your memories I cant exactly remember which side of your brain it is that dreams but I know that you cannot read in your dreams because that part of your brain is not active. Yet there have been times where I can swear I am reading in my dreams. One dream in particular im in a room with no ending and no beginning sitting on a bench just reading. When I awoke I remembered everything I read and wrote it down and when I searched for this book I found no evidence of it existing anywhere. I even searched my own college library and found no luck. That dream still haunts me because it couldnt be random memories created into one making a whole new story and being sllowed to read this story and remembering it entirely

The mind is very powerful we can create something from nothing using our minds and if the secret of dreams coukd be unlocked imagine the potential that awaits all of us

Dreams have no real meaning. They're just weird, random images that appear when you sleep.
I dont accept that and i cannot accept that. Nothing has no meaning behind it, when people stop questioning things and give than an answer we dont fully understand what is going on around us in our world. There is a meaning in dreams to label it unimportant would be the same as labeling anything unimportant.

I'll take an exemple, when you make dreams of demons, or erotic dreams at repetition, it's almost 100% sure that it's from djinns.
When you kill a djinn in dreams, you killed him for real.So yes dreams aren't random and meaningless.

Djinn I know i have heard of them before, it almost sound similar to a Supernatural episode i had seen once. But i also dont believe in entities or dietys of any sort. There is no proof of there existence.

there are many things that have no meaning. People are afraid of what they don't understand and can't seem to accept the idea that nothing necessarily has meaning to it. Much of what we experience is due to random chance. Like dreams. It just gibberish created by a sleeping mind so that it can recuperate. Don't try to interpret it, it's just another bodily function. Do you question the meaning behind sweating? or blinking? no. They have purpose, but don't have any subjective interpretation.

Actually i question everything and i dont ever want to stop questioning anything. My greatest goal is to prove that the existence of diety's and all beliefs such as ghosts and aparitions dont exist. I know that they dont but that isnt enough for everyone. People need the hardcore evidence. That is my ultimate goal in life.

I've read once that dreams show things that have been unconsciously bugging you the whole day... I don't know if this is true, but if it is, my mind is a piece of weirdness, and so are my friend's then. One of my friends dreams every night that she's going to be murdered... Although it sounds quite plausible, since we need to sleep in order to process things that have happened to us.

Personally I think it is part of you unconscious memory, and partly just random stuff

But how do I explain dream deja-vu's then!?

There are three types of dreams imo.
Good ones, where you feel a sense of pleasure and accomplishment.
Random ones, where nothing makes sense and you're pretty much just caught in a fun fantasy where you don't want to wake up.
Bad ones, where nightmares stream from, and your deepest fears are evoked.

You've misinterpreted me, I meant to say, don't bother trying to find deeper meaning in something that has no deeper meaning. You don't want to end up like an English teacher... always wondering 'what do the ducks mean?'. Maybe there are just ducks that happen to be there.
On another note, I do agree that we should always question ideas, and try to improve upon them. "Faith" is a silly thing, because we can only trust what we absolutely know through science, and even science is wrong sometimes.

The reason we dream is partially because it's a way to deal with things and it also helps keep you in check as well, it helps strengthen the line between right and wrong. Or at least for sane people it does. There really isn't anything else to it, it's rather simple and straightforward, not a mystery. ^_^
