Actually thats a Celtic cross... that is a pseudo religious symbol... my family has some in there house even though they aren't christian they have it because of there Irish or Celtic heritage... I also doubt that is the cross he is talking about

It's all the same thing actually, here's another one. The cross, in any form, represents only one thing, the sun, specifically the sun deity.
