Skills Test: Battle Section

Welcome to the battle portion of the Skills Test, otherwise known as the Test of Might. In this section, you will engage in a short one-on-one battle against myself, the proctor, and are tasked with displaying your strength and skills. You have full access to all the fields and abilities of the bio you choose to use for this battle, including customs, as will the proctor. At the proctor's discretion, or the Head of Sensei's, the test will be closed and submitted for grading. The rules are as follows:​

⇒ Customs are permitted

I'll be using my Jonin Rank Merlin bio for this test. We're fighting in a plain grassy terrain.



Before Merlin stood a woman possessed of elegance and beauty. Kazumi, the Iron Fist. Someone with such a title was surely formidable. Passively activating his sensory and his Flesh of the Incubus, Merlin would then funnel chakra to the ground beneath Kazumi, causing two pillars of wood to emerge that would spiral around her. Raising an open hand, he would close it into a fist, causing the wood to snap shut, crushing her body and leaving her immobilised.

Description: This is a very advanced of advancing the ability to feel and sense chakra. The technique allows the user to concentrate and detect someone's chakra. Users can use this to determine the nature of a jutsu used as well as sense masses of chakra. The use of this can be compared to Sharingan's brutish level of sensory, able to sense collection of chakra but not the level of clarity and precision Byakugan has.
Note: Can only be used by bios with Sensory ability.
Note: After having on a bio for 1 month, users gain the ability to activate Sensory passively.

Description: Flesh of the Incubus is an ability which results from the combination of one's overflowing vitality, that is, an already powerful life force made greater by mastery over Yang Release, with their ability to utilise Wood Release at its highest form. Because of the latter condition, it is an ability unique to Merlin. It takes the form of a woodskin that perfectly mimics the user's appearance and anatomy, even replicating the feeling of normal skin, which is present on the body at all times, and is bolstered by Yang Release. The benefits granted by this are twofold; not only is the physical integrity of the wood greatly bolstered, allowing it to reduce incoming physical damage by 40 points, but the woodskin itself is granted sentience, allowing it to automatically balance the delicate ratio between Natural Energy and chakra on the user's behalf, meaning that the user no longer needs to remain still in order to generate Sage Chakra properly, nor are their abilities limited whilst generating Sage Chakra. The woodskin itself allows the user to convert more of their own chakra reserves into Sage Chakra per turn, an additional 5%, for a total of 10% per turn. This technique can be kept active to continue generating Sage Chakra at an increased rate beyond the minimum threshold, up to its maximum, though the Mode will not empower the user or their techniques, as per the normal method of meditation and usage. While Sage Mode is in proper use, the woodskin will no longer generate Sage Chakra, though its other properties will remain active. In order to utilise Flesh of the Incubus, the user requires the Yang Release specialty. Flesh of the Incubus can be used a total of three time per battle, lasting 5 turns per usage as well as a three turn cooldown in between usages.

As Kazumi approached the grounds she saw who her opponent would be, a . . . man? While he, or it, took the appearance of a man there was some question as to if he was actually human, there was an air of mystery to him with the abnormal appearance of his attire as well as his physical appearance. Shaking her head, she readied herself in a fighting position as they started. Kazumi had enhanced sensitivity thanks to her close quarters combat expertise, and with a rumble beneath the earth there would be an assumption of an attack from below. Channelling chakra into the arch of her back, Kazumi would manipulate the ratio to favour Yang Energy while mixing it with Lightning and Wind elemental natures. The result being 4 large muscular arms growing from her back with 2 arms infused with lightning and 2 arms infused with wind natured chakra. The arms themselves were much larger than her own body, capable of reaching into mid range but had no effect on her balance nor weight distribution. As her signature technique, Kazumi as adept at using them as much as her own arms. As they grew, Kazumi positioned herself to use the two wind arms to slam down on the rising wooden pillars growing and spiralling around her in a karate chopping motion. As they hadn't closed yet it was ample time to swing the wind arms down shattering and breaking the wood apart before it could completely close, and while that was happening she would make use of the lightning elemental arms that were free to go after her target, the Incubus. The lightning arms would shoot forwards aiming to clap together catching Merlin in the middle and cutting off any sideways escape routes, with the advantage of letting Kazumi defend from any attacks that would come directly head on. With the 4 arms, 2 to defend and 2 to attack, Kazumi wanted to make the most of her advantage and press her opponent.

Description:
Given the nature of Yang, capable of being able to create flesh and vitality from the users flesh, as well as being able to increase the vitality and strength of the user, this technique could be considered the pinnacle of Medjutsu mastery combined with Yang Release. By channelling Yang chakra around their body, the user grows 4 extra arms, although much larger than the users current arms. Comparable to the Akimichi partial expansion jutsu combined with the Yang Release Ring of Hell, these arms are completely connected and part of the user. These arms however are powered completely by Yang Release, coated with Yang chakra causing the arms to have a -30 damage reduction. Should these arms block the user from a technique, the user will still take damage from their health pool. The advantage of these arms is that they allow the user to channel elements into each fist, (up to a max of 2 different elements at a time) to allow the user to perform elemental nintaijutsu with their taijutsu. As the arms themselves are connected to the user they can be used like normal arms should the user require, capable of performing handseals or other taijutsu moves the user has access to.
Each attack with these arms counts towards one of the users moves per turn. Can only attack twice per turn max.
This technique however doesnt come without drawbacks.
Note: Technique can only be used once per battle and requires 50 chakra points to maintain. While this technique is in use, the user cannot use any non-elemental ninjutsu, Yin Release, or Yin-Yang techniques.

As two of the arms began to swing out to pursue him, he would form a string of seals, exhaling a large wave of cyan liquid known as Eridian Water, streaming a current of electricity through it simultaneously to augment its power. With its power equal to that of the two Lightning Release arms, the techniques would explosively cancel each other out, leaving Kazumi with only two Wind arms remaining. Forming the Snake seal, Merlin would create a swamp centered on Kazumi that was slightly smaller than mid-range in size, leaving him standing at its edge while his opponent would begin to sink. Smiling cheekily at her, Merlin's playful nature was on display.

"Come now, we still have much time together."

Description: This technique encompasses the basic release for Eridian Release. Fertile Crescent can manifest Eridian anywhere on the battlefield by either taking control of a water source, producing it from the user’s body, or by using water molecules present in the air; it is capable of creating Eridian in either a liquid or gaseous state, though it cannot manifest within short-range of an opponent. Yin Release masters are able to create Eridian without any need for a water source simply by using their imagination. Because the element is created from Yang Release, Eridian Water is self-sustaining and only requires the user to expend chakra per turn to maintain it but allows them to perform other actions simultaneously. S-Rank variants can be performed three times per battle, with no Yang Release or Eridian techniques above A-Rank usable in the following turn. A-Rank applications require two handseals, while S-Rank require three.

Description: After doing the Rabbit → Dog → Boar → Ram → Rat hand seals, the user generates a large amount of lightning from their hands, which can then be either released in an unfocused manner or passed through conductive materials to improve the electrical power of the technique, namely in conjunction with Water Techniques. In fact, certain users have showed that its possible to, if the user has the ability to mold both Water and Lightning chakras at the same time (for example, Darui who has Storm Release), unleash this particular technique at the same time as they exhale/spit some water technique (which needs to consist of a stream of water), combining both in a seemingly consecutive move. Other ninjas will need to use a clone or an ally for the same effect.

Description: The user will first perform Boar → Tiger and then by changing the surface of an object beneath an enemy into mud and creating a non flammable swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from the swamp. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a thick, newer impossible to move in swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or when having to face gigantic creatures.
Note: A rank use can extend up to mid range and will cause a target to become engulfed after one turn and suffocate after taking 60 damage per turn.
Note: S rank use can only be used by Primary Earth Specialists and can extend up to a single landmark in range and will cause a target to become engulfed and suffocate after one turn, taking 80 damage per turn.
Note: Forbidden ranked use can only be used by Jiraiya and Komi bios. It can only be used 2 times and is causing targets engulfed to suffocate in a single turn and can be up to 100 meters deep and wide and/or up to two landmarks. After ending, the user cannot use for 2 turns.

As the water combined with lightning collided with the Yang hand creations a large creation of smoke and dust obscured the view of each other which Kazumi would try to use to push her advantage. The smoke cloud itself created a wall to prevent vision, combined with the explosions to cancel out most sound, however with a swift and simple activation of her ear technology, she could use her enhanced senses to track her opponents position as well as any surrounding attacks that may come. Her opponent hadn't moved, but more than likely with his skill he could probably still know where she is and track her movements, and would use that to confuse him. Under the cover of the explosive cloud, Kazumi would de-activate her Yang technique, causing the arms to fade away while pulling out several shuriken. Twisting on her foot, she would throw the first with a seal in the air in a large arc with the aim to bombard the area her opponent was in while running of to her right (her opponents left) and firing off a barrage of more shuriken while forming a seal with her free hand. The large demon shuriken in the air would begin splitting and crackling with energy as it began summoning more and more with lightning jumping between them creating a hail of thunderous lightning infused shuriken. Meanwhile using her superior strength, Kazumi would throw a handful of shuriken aiming to have them connect at the same time as the first attack she launched to create a simultaneous multi direction combination attack. The shurilken she was throwing as she ran wouldnt be infused with any chakra, just pure strength and thus would not be detectable by any chakra sensing, but would force him to pay attention to either the ones raining down or the ones she was throwing. Knowing the coverage of her own attacks, she would make sure to skirt the outside range of her first attack as it would cover a mid range portion.

The Banshee's Wail | Josei Himei

Description:
The Banshee's Wail is a special set of in-ear defenders that were made for the purpose of mimicking the Sound Ninjutsu known as Inner Sonar, but to a much more advanced level. By using technology fitted within the defenders, the user can decipher where and what happens around them with pinpoint precision without the need to use their breathing for the technique. When the device receives any vibrations of sound, it can calculate where it had come from, and by sending a harmless current into the users inner ear, can allow them to "feel" where or what happened without actually seeing it. The device itself also has built in dampeners that allow it filter out any extreme noise above certain thresholds that would be damaging to the user while also being able to filter out any noise that may affect the users balance through manipulation of sound.

-Must be kept active with 10 chakra per turn.
-Can filter 60 damage worth of Sound jutsu per turn
-Last up to 4 turns per activation and can only be activated twice.

Description: A slightly more advanced aspect of Bukijutsu entails throwing weapons, by physically launching weapons the user is capable of throwing them in arcs or in a linear fashion. These thrown weapons travel quite quickly, depending on the user's own base speed. Unlike the lower ranked variation of this, the user throws a tremendous amount of weapons using this ability, enough to cover entire ranges with weapons and as such requires a sufficient amount of ammunition.

Description:
A bukijutsu technique where the user will take a large shuriken that has a summoning seal on it charging it with raiton chakra. Then throwing it above the opponents head, the user will activate the seal, summoning forth another large shuriken, which has another summoning seal on it, which will activate summoning forth another shuriken with a summoning seal etc raining down hundreds of large shuriken covering the area of the target up to mid range in large shurikens. The user will make a single seal discharging the electrical chakra in the original shuriken, which will jump to all nearby shuriken and create a large thunder storm of electrical currents jumping around from shuriken to shuriken multiplying each time it jumps to the next nearest one.

Twisting on her foot, she would throw the first with a seal in the air in a large arc with the aim to bombard the area her opponent was in while running of to her right (her opponents left) and firing off a barrage of more shuriken while forming a seal with her free hand. The large demon shuriken in the air would begin splitting and crackling with energy as it began summoning more and more with lightning jumping between them creating a hail of thunderous lightning infused shuriken. Meanwhile using her superior strength, Kazumi would throw a handful of shuriken aiming to have them connect at the same time as the first attack she launched to create a simultaneous multi direction combination attack. The shurilken she was throwing as she ran wouldnt be infused with any chakra, just pure strength and thus would not be detectable by any chakra sensing, but would force him to pay attention to either the ones raining down or the ones she was throwing. Knowing the coverage of her own attacks, she would make sure to skirt the outside range of her first attack as it would cover a mid range portion.

The Banshee's Wail is a special set of in-ear defenders that were made for the purpose of mimicking the Sound Ninjutsu known as Inner Sonar, but to a much more advanced level. By using technology fitted within the defenders, the user can decipher where and what happens around them with pinpoint precision without the need to use their breathing for the technique. When the device receives any vibrations of sound, it can calculate where it had come from, and by sending a harmless current into the users inner ear, can allow them to "feel" where or what happened without actually seeing it. The device itself also has built in dampeners that allow it filter out any extreme noise above certain thresholds that would be damaging to the user while also being able to filter out any noise that may affect the users balance through manipulation of sound.

The user will make a single seal discharging the electrical chakra in the original shuriken, which will jump to all nearby shuriken and create a large thunder storm of electrical currents jumping around from shuriken to shuriken multiplying each time it jumps to the next nearest one.

Lastly but most importantly, the user’s ability to combat Bijuu Techniques as well as Tailed Beast themselves. This is shown by allowing his techniques to be capable of combatting Bijuu techniques with an additional 20 damage as well as absorb Bijuu chakra at heightened levels, effectively weakening. When interacting with Bijuu directly, the user becomes capable of absorbing 1.5x the amount of chakra normally from them via Wood canon techniques. Description: Pillar of the Two Horizons focuses on the nature of Dendera Light as a superconductor of energy. This technique is an infusion with two usages that revolve around this quality, imbuing any energy-based technique of choice with unique effects upon the incorporation of extra chakra into said technique. Performing either of these applications can be done so in the same timeframe as the creation of the chosen target, or anytime it is on the field, and each infusion’s duration is equivalent to that of the chosen target.

East Horizon: The lesser A-Rank application, Earth Horizon infuses the targeted technique with additional chakra (+10), and applies two effects. The first, and more basic effect, is a simple increase in power, equivalent to +1 Rank, with techniques above S-Rank being granted +20 damage instead. The second is the effective transformation of the targeted jutsu into a superconductor, allowing for the total absorption of techniques it clashes with. Though Dendera Light already has the natural capacity to absorb energy, this technique enhances that quality. Absorption follows the S&W scheme of the host technique (equal rank for neutral elements, one rank higher for elements weak to it, one rank lower for elements strong to it). Techniques based in Lightning Release (having Lightning as a component or being Lightning Release) and respecting the S&W of the jutsu targeted by East Horizon will be passively absorbed without weakening it, but techniques which are of sufficient strength or aren't based in Lightning Release will clash normally instead. Kazumi watched in awe as her opponents physical change took her by surprise, the kind looking albeit strange, opponent took on a more powerful form as he entered the Sage Mode. Kazumi started to feel a panic rise up her throat, as he weaved 4 seals and fire erupted from the ground and formed themselves into chains. Well if she was going to go down, she wouldn't go down without a fight. Grabbing another handful of shuriken in each hand, Kazumi took a breath and performed a sequence of moves smoothly within the same timeframe as the fire fully formed and began to launch towards her. Letting out a breath she released the seal on her head to level 1, the White Seal's chakra and strength returned to her body and with a throw of the shuriken in her hands, she clasp them together forming a singular seal to activate her healing technique. With this, her combo technique would be complete, activating her healing while additionally throwing out some offence. Her opponent had chosen to split his technique to deal with her two pronged attack, weakening it enough that Kazumi's Bukijutsu attack could overcome it, even if barely, it would be enough to break through.

Description:
The Byakugō no In is a powerful sealing technique used by Tsunade and later taught to Sakura. By storing chakra over a period of time, the user creates a seal on their forehead which keeps the chakra undisturbed for future use. Once the seal is formed and is fully filled, the users already impressive chakra control allows them to fully access their chakra and as such produce a greater physical strength or perform techniques without any wasted stamina or chakra. The effort to fuel the chakra into the seal is such that when it finally becomes full, the user can re direct his focus and his chakra to his body once more, taking full advantage of it and its own chakra control. To release the seal, one uses the command Infūin: Kai (White Seal: Release), pumping the stored chakra back into the body, greatly increasing chakra flow. The release command will open the seal and allow the stored chakra to pump back into her body. The seal has two levels of release which enable the use of specific techniques unique to Tsunade:

-Level 1: User partially opens the seal, which makes the markings of the White Seal spread around her face. The Chakra that flows from the Seal (adding 500 chakra points) powers Tsunade's physical abilities, increasing her already chakra enhanced enormous strength to monstrous levels, adding another +15 to her Taijutsu. Her medical techniques are boosted in both speed and effectiveness (heals twice as much, twice as fast). This level enables her the ability to use (Sōzō Saisei) Creation Rebirth on herself or on others through Katsuyu.

-Level 2: After releasing Level 1 of the White Seal, the user forces the seal to open completely. Upon release, the markings of the white seal spread around Tsunade's body. Description: The absolute pinnacle of medical ninjutsu, created by the greatest of medical ninja, Tsunade, it is one of the two ultimate regeneration technique. By releasing the first level of her White Strength Seal, she stimulates the body's proteins to increase cell division reconstructing all organs and all tissues making up the human body. The technique itself does not regenerate the old cells, rather it hastens the creation of new ones through division. If this technique is used, a body whose vital organs are so gravely injured that it cannot bear it any longer will be instantly restored to its uninjured state. As long as the user has chakra and is conscious it is impossible for her to die by any means, which means that as such she gains a form of "immortality" throughout the duration of the technique. However, a body's cells can only split a certain number of times in a lifetime, and by speeding up this process, Tsunade is basically shortening her natural lifespan. Also, the user must control the technique consciously, willing it to happen and controlling every aspect of the healing, taking a great deal of concentration and chakra control to keep active.

Description: A slightly more advanced aspect of Bukijutsu entails shooting weapons, by physically launching ammunition the user is capable of firing them in arcs or in a linear fashion. These fired weapons travel quite quickly, depending on the user's own base speed. Unlike the lower ranked variation of this, the user fires a tremendous amount of weapons using this ability, enough to cover entire ranges with weapons and as such requires a sufficient amount of ammunition.

Description: The absolute pinnacle of medical ninjutsu, created by the greatest of medical ninja, Tsunade, it is one of the two ultimate regeneration technique. By releasing the first level of her White Strength Seal, she stimulates the body's proteins to increase cell division reconstructing all organs and all tissues making up the human body. The technique itself does not regenerate the old cells, rather it hastens the creation of new ones through division. If this technique is used, a body whose vital organs are so gravely injured that it cannot bear it any longer will be instantly restored to its uninjured state. As long as the user has chakra and is conscious it is impossible for her to die by any means, which means that as such she gains a form of "immortality" throughout the duration of the technique. However, a body's cells can only split a certain number of times in a lifetime, and by speeding up this process, Tsunade is basically shortening her natural lifespan. Also, the user must control the technique consciously, willing it to happen and controlling every aspect of the healing, taking a great deal of concentration and chakra control to keep active.

Unable to tell what purpose this served with sensory alone, Merlin didn't pay it too much mind, focusing on the next volley of shuriken being unleashed. If this was to be a contest of power, Merlin would respond in kind. The incubus would form three seals, summoning four gargantuan wooden hands from the ground that would be empowered by his Sage Mode and a supplementary technique. Were Kazumi unable to counter, she would be crushed by the wooden constructs and dealt serious, though not fatal, injury.

Each hand can only be destroyed by S-Rank techniques but, due to their size, are not suited for attacking small targets.

Description: Factor of the Dragon is a supplementary ability applied to Wood Release techniques, either in the same timeframe as their creation or anytime they are on the field. Principally, it is similar to how the Wood Dragon technique is used to augment the Wood Human technique, but it can be applied to any of the user’s Wood Release jutsu. When applied to a technique, Factor of the Dragon reinforces it by growing additional wood through the infusion of an additional 10 chakra points, strengthening it by +1 Rank, or +20 damage for techniques above S-Rank. Defensive techniques, or those without a stated damage value, become capable of defending against techniques and attacks of greater strength in accordance with the enhancement granted by Factor of the Dragon. Cosmetically, the technique will darken in appearance, the bark changing in shape to resemble scales. In the case of Wood Release techniques which burrow into the ground, or occur from within the ground, techniques which alter the terrain such as Great Moving Earth Core will be unable to take effect, due to the structures of Wood Release holding them in place. This can be overcome if the terrain-altering technique in question possesses higher chakra to the Wood technique it's is faced against. Factor of the Dragon can be used up to four times per battle.

As Kazumi threw the shuriken barrage there was a monent she thought she could gain the upper hand once again however her opponent would form three seals and from the ground came a rumbling as the earth shook and massive wooden statues began to grow from the ground all around them. Considering that Kazumi was approximately 10 meters away from her opponent, these hands would surround them both, however it was a case of standing too close to an elephant. Kazumi couldn't see how huge these hands really were, as each one of them were the size on a tailed beast meaning that Kazumi or her opponent would be roughly the size of half a finger maybe. Though this would meaning that her opponent would leave himself open and deciding to engage on her terms, she would flood her system with Yang natured chakra, empowering herself with speed, power and damage shaving abilities. Blitzing forwards, Kazumi would aim to launch herself just below Merlin's eyesight and twisting to rotate onto her hands and swing her legs through, Kazumi would launch an offensive taijutsu kick at her opponent.
This would factor in several conditions to ensure the best possibility of connecting with her taijutsu move, the first being the size of the hands attacking would be so large that should they come down on Kazumi, that would also include Merlin on the attack as well. Each one the size of a tailed beast, would be too huge to attack a singular person. The next would be the angle of her sweeping kick, with the first leg being a feint to draw his eyes at her attack and then use her second foot to sweep through and collect into Merlins thighs, tripping him up. Pushing her opponent off balance would be her goal, knowing full well that there are only a handful of people that would be more dangerous than her in a taijutsu fight, and she needed to fight this on her terms.
Considering Kazumi's technique providing damage shaving, her medical technique providing a massive healing as well, would mean that she would have no fear of her opponents counter attack. Following up her taijutsu technique, would be a dash should her opponent look to dodge and follow up with an uppercut into the air as lightning would crackle around her fist. Leaping up and grabbing her opponent before he could realize or react, she would then slam him into the ground, followed by another finishing blow.

Description: The user will reinforce his own body with Yang natured chakra, empowering his physical abilities to the outermost limits. This allows him to become physically very strong (beyond the normal levels of chakra enhanced strength), increases his resistance to physical damage (decreasing 60 damage from any physical contact), his speed (boosted to 3.5x his normal speed), and grants him a passive healing of all minor wounds at 30 damage per turn. However, by infusing himself with the Yang Nature, he becomes unable to use Yin Release techniques or Yin/Yang Release techniques; he cannot use Genjutsu or non elemental Ninjutsu of any kind (including special fields like Fuuinjutsu).

Description: The user concentrates their lightning chakra into their limbs and strikes the opponent with a upper cut to send them into a roll within the air. Then by thrusting themselves up above the target, the user grabs hold the target's limbs face down, dropping them to the ground. Then right as they are about to strike the ground, the user surges their lightning chakra into their right ankle, releasing the energy on point of contact to smash the opponent downwards and causing a giant crater to appear from the release of the immense energy.
