[Spoilers] I think Gai will die.

In this upcoming fight between Naruto, Gai, Kakashi, and friends v. Tobi, I have a sinking suspicion that Gai is going to die. Gai, throughout the series, has always had his ace in the hole, the 8th inner gate. I would expect him to unleash this final gate in order to try and take out Tobi, I'm not going to speculate on its effectiveness only that it is going to occur. He probably has another "ultimate" taijutsu move that has something to do with "evening" or "nighttime" to follow the Morning Peacock and the Afternoon Tiger. If Gai does open the eight gate he will go out in a blaze of glory. Questions or comments? ​

--Asuma died making Shikamaru, Ino and Choji grow up

--Kureani got prego making Hinata grow up (made that up)

What if Gai used Eighth Gate but had Katsuyu on himself? Would it heal him to the point he wouldn't die after using it? Katsuyu is one of the best Healing things in Narutoverse, considering they managed to heal a lot of almost killed people during Pain's Invasion Arc.

I think Gai using the 8th gate on Tobi would be a complete waste.

Tobi become immaterial.

Of al the techniques to use against him, I think the 8th gate is one of the least useful.

So in short.... no. Gai will be fine.

Gai is going to die it's 100% confirmed since we found out that 8 gates will kill the person who uses it. We always knew he's going to die we just didn't knew when but now we know.

Kishi isn't going to tease us with a jutsu like that and never show it just to keep Gai alive, that would be trolling beyond Kubo's and Mashima's level.
