I think Mei has this in the bag, but I've seen differing opinions. What do you guys think?

Open field like this limits her corrosive mists effectiveness. Snake summonings easily find her in the hiden mist. Chidori Stream lets Sasuke safely engage her from the mid range and gets her in the air where the lack of maneuverability makes easier to land a sharp spear.

In CQC with Sasuke, he eats her alive with or without the mist as she is not a specialist in silent killing and even if she was, the mist would only slow Sasuke reactions down, use of of cm1 or 2 help null that

sasuke wins

mei pushes him back w/ acid mist & water, so he uses those fodder mid-boss snakes to reproach & presure w/ chidori stuffs while rebuffing her burning counters w/ a snake kawrimi. once her fort is broken, he finishes w/ chidori longsword

Mei wins mid-high difficulty.

She should start off the battle by using her large scale Suiton Suijinchuu on Sasuke. He has superb shunshin speed and reactions coupled with 3T precog to see her attacks coming, but this technique only requires one hand seal and erupts rather abruptly from the ground. When Mei used it against Madara's katon, Tsunade was only three meters or so away from the katon but it wasn't able to make it to Tsunade before getting completely overwhelmed. Mei's water pillar also surpasses Madara's Katon: Goukka Mekkyaku (the rendition he used against the Kiri fodder) in width and height, not to mention that it moves in an upward direction so I doubt that Sasuke is going to be able to shunshin away or evade it before getting tossed into the air and submerged.

Mei can follow this up with a quick water dragon to deal further damage to Sasuke and keep him on the defensive. Sasuke will most likely elect to transform into stage two of his curse mark and use his snake techniques to force himself out of there and tank her attack, but this gives her enough time to spread out her acidic mist all throughout the surrounding area. It isn't as effective in an open field since it tends to diffuse but this doesn't mean that it isn't effective at all, especially since Mei can regulate the amount of acid mist out on the field of play. Now Hebi Sasuke doesn't have intel on this technique so he'll mistake it for an ordinary hidden mist, but this will backfire on him if he attempts to use his katon to counter it as he'll have to inhale first, but he'll be inhaling a gaseous acid with corrosive properties. Even if he manages to use a katon, Mei's Water Release feasibly counters and allows her to reset.

As the mist spreads, Mei can set up pools and/or wall of acid lava around her to decrease the amount of routes and openings Sasuke has, and change her position. Also, since Mei is immune to her KKG, these pools of lava serve no threat to her.

Sasuke's summons aren't going to be of much use here as the acid mist and acid lava serve as effective barriers against their approaches. Heat sensing isn't going to be as effective since the temperature of the area will rise drastically due to Mei's Lava and Boil Release, not to mention that the acid mist both hinders and damages their perceptive senses. Touching the acid lava is an instant poof for these summons if they don't combust into flames and melt away first.

Sasuke can glide out of mist's immediate range but this is only temporary as the mist can cover a wide area. Not to mention that this leaves him open for Mei to fire a water dragon at him, which surpasses his regular katon, and then use the pre-existing water from the dragon to form a large pillar and knock him straight down. If the distance permits, Mei can actually fire lava at the spot where Sasuke will be falling before he lands [ ], which is GG whether or not he is in stage two or not.

Overall, Mei can control the flow of the battle to her liking and can neutralize Sasuke's direct, CQC oriented style.

I dont see how she gets passed Manda who can easily slither around her lava or take . Even if he does get hit with Lava he can always since it wont be a lot.

Plus her lava release will help Sasuke prep Kirin since it gives off heat.

Mei's reserves and Sasuke has a lot ways to heal himself like oral rebirth if he does get caught with the acid mist.

Manda isn't going to shed before the lava melts away at his skin, not to mention that Sasuke has to put him under a curse mark enhanced genjutsu to be able to fully control him first, which leaves him open to getting attacked by Mei. Manda'll resurface to being covered in acid lava. The vibrations and noises created from a bijuu sized snake should give away his position as well so that Mei can reposition herself and counter with more acid lava. The bolded is strictly your assumption.

The heat emitted from Lava Release on the ground isn't going to be reaching the sky.

You know, I find it rather annoying when people spit the same BS that's been disproved on other threads. I thought that Icelerate educated you already on the bolded. Oral Rebirth expends a ton of chakra giving Sasuke diminished capacity to use his techniques and the curse mark, and that new body benefit is short lived as he comes out right into the acid mist again.

Also, can Sasuke even fight himself and control Manda under his Genjutsu simultaneously?

Mei doesnt shoot a lot of acid. As you see from here its a very something that doesnt compare to Manda's size.

Manda's skin is It was able to take the burnt force of . As for genjustu seeing as he was able to do it as Deidara's bomb goes off I would say he can do it fairly quickly.

@Bold Again you are completely ignoring , it doesnt matter at all if she knows where he is coming up from, she cant spit enough lava to cover enough of the ground by the time he comes up.

The heat emitted from Lava Release on the ground isn't going to be reaching the sky.

Yes it will, heat travels up into the sky making the air warm.

He simply said you dont know Mei needed chakra just because Tsunade was healing her which is not an argument. She was on her knees taking the chakra which is more of sign of her being worn out.

Oral rebirth can be used as a last resort if he doesnt realize the effects of her acid mist in time, which he can then take to the sky in level 2.

This is a bush league argument that has annoyed me to no end ever since I joined this site. I guess since Mei only shot X amount of acid, it means that she can't shoot more and raise it's quantity, not to mention that the angle shown in that panel ignores the size relative to a human sized target

Lava that burns at over a thousand degrees and has corrosive and acidic properties completely ignores durability.

Fairly quickly is a relative description, Mei can attack him far quicker than the time he takes to put Manda under genjutsu by feats

Don't forget that the amount and shape of the lava spat out by Mei is at her liberty

Yes it will, heat travels up into the sky making the air warm.

First off the lava is on the ground and no where near the sky, even further below from where the large amount of black flames were when they were released as it was on top of a bunch of trees. Sasuke still had to shoot off curse mark enhanced katons to create the adequate conditions for that jutsu

The heat energy emitted by the acid lava which is a more fluid substance unlike flames decreases as you move further from it, no amount of heat energy will be reaching the sky

Too bad that Mei was fighting for the entire day and a good portion of that fight against Madara was off paneled. Second, yes, you really don't know if Mei was being healed or replenished as there wasn't any specific dialogue stating so to my knowledge

Being on her knees is actually not an argument here as I'm pretty sure that people tend to kneel and crouch when in pain, it's not a sign at all

Then you dont understand the argument within that amount of time from first shooting acid as Madara, Ay punching him and then her covering the rest of the susano. She can only spit that much lava in that amount of time as that is as much as we have seen from her. How does it ignore size relative to a human size target? Here is another panel that shows the .

It doesnt ignore durability, more durable substances will take longer to melt.

Right as Deidara's bomb goes off he summons Manda, puts him under genjustu, that is beyond fast.

I never said her alone allows him to prep kirin but her shooting acid lava heats up the forest which will then help Sasuke prep kirin.

Mei was moving from position to position, yes she could be tired but no where was it shown her depleting her reserves, as she only delivered a kick to BZ while other ninjas were involved in the fight including KCM Naruto.

After only fighting a little bit against Madara Tsunade was giving her chakra, no reason for Tsunade to charge her up unless they were doing a combined attack which she then wouldnt be kneeling for. Its obvious she needed chakra.

Yeah this isn't a great matchup for sasuke, mei's mid-long ranged fighting style gives sasuke more trouble than I see his cqc abilities giving her. Summons won't last long either if yoton is shot at their eyes, & mei has displayed adequate speed feats in order to prevent a blitz from this distance.

I'll go w/ mid-high diff.

Mei has never shown that range with her lava. Do you know how far up Manda's eyes are from her?

I'm pretty sure that you're arguing that the amount Mei showed then is her limit. I don't know how you can say she can only use that much lava when it's fully within her capability to increase the dosage and size as she spits out more. If this isn't your argument, then what is? That Mei can shoot out lava pretty quickly as those scans with Madara and Ay show?

They melt and take damage anyway which is ignoring durability. Manda's skin surviving an explosion isn't telling me that he'll tank Mei's acid lava before it eats away at his flesh and bursts into flames, especially when Bunta's sword left a gaping hole on his face.

I never said her alone allows him to prep kirin but her shooting acid lava heats up the forest which will then help Sasuke prep kirin.

How is it heating up the forest? You're not making any sense.

You're stating what she accomplished on panel but ignoring completely what happened off panel between the fight against Black Zetsu and the fight against Madara. If you really think that Mei has poor reserves then her suiton wouldn't have been on such a large scale either.

Mei's Suiton and Sasuke's katon would pretty much neutralize each other. And depending on how many times they use this, the heat from the katon and from the resulting steam would pretty much be prepping up for kirin.

In such an open space, boil release would be ineffective. The real threat to sasuke would be her lava release. And again, the heat would be prepping for kirin.

So the way i see it, Sasuke engages her in close combat. with his chidori sword and speed, I don't see her keeping up with him. She'll probably try to back up cuz she isn't a close combat fighter.

even if she backs up, Sasuke's chidori arm technique has a range of about 5 meters. she'd have to back up way more.

Sasuke is fast. He could avoid all her lava attacks. He has long range attacks also as well as the upper hand in close combat. He also has genjutsu, which I think would probably beat mei. And this is all withoug the CM.

If he goes CM lvl 2. More powerful techniques and greater speed. He could just blitz her. He could also pretty much stay in the air and deal attacks from there. Sasuke can do kirin without prep. But in that open space, he'll probably want to prep it for more power.

It would be a close fight. could go either way actually.

Within that time she can only shoot that much lava. Its the same argument as judging the size of Onoki's jinton we only use the sizes of something he has shown. That is the largest capacity of lava she has shot right?

They melt and take damage anyway which is ignoring durability. Manda's skin surviving an explosion isn't telling me that he'll tank Mei's acid lava before it eats away at his flesh and bursts into flames, especially when Bunta's sword left a gaping hole on his face.

Seeing as how he was able to shed his skin against the giant katon I would say Mei's tiny lava against his body wont be much a problem as it wont be enough to melt deep into skin.

How is it heating up the forest? You're not making any sense.

Are we really going to argue if Mei's lava is hot? You can obviously see smoke coming off it and . When its hits the trees and stuff it will heat up the forest which will then heat up the air.

You're stating what she accomplished on panel but ignoring completely what happened off panel between the fight against Black Zetsu and the fight against Madara. If you really think that Mei has poor reserves then her suiton wouldn't have been on such a large scale either.

I am not ignoring anything. Its very clear she did not battle much against Black Zestu seeing as how many ninja were there including KCM Naruto and Chojuro and if she did then Black Zestu would have been melted right?

She only fought off panel with Madara for a little bit, obviously she used her justus but compared to Onoki and Gaara who did way more fighting they were fine after a little healing with Tsunade while Mei having just fought a little bit needed a recharge. Sasuke definitely has much more chakra than Mei.

Lol at Sasuke's fire and Mei's water neutralising each other. Mei's water prowess dwarfs Madara's Fire. How on earth is Sasuke's Fire even a factor.
