Although I am a total textbook dog person (ex-family dog would protect me when I was a little baby- idk it's instinctual) I do see the appeal in cats, they move in strange ways, can be antisocial and funny as sh*t to watch but their nature makes it hard to understand why people would be so extremely drawn to them.

I mean like a well-trained dog gets the same endorphines released as love when it sees you, a cat could give or take- and I don't get how someone can be so obsessed with that in the same way a two-way connection with a dog can feel.

Dogs are much better IMO. I love my dog and he is very loyal and affectionate. He sleeps in my room most the time, and when im not home will sit outside my bedroom hoping i show up. I havent seen that type of relationship with any of my cats.

Both cats and dogs can have many different personalities. Ive met affection cats and anti social ones. Being that cats are pretty solitary animals they are more likely to exhibit anti social characteristics.

Dogs are pack animals and as such fit into familys easily. They are social animals who are loyal and protective of their family. A perfect pet to me, not to mention all of thier uses outside keeping them as pets.

In my experience dogs are smarter than cats as well. My dog undestands things I never put effort into teaching him. Just imo though theres no real way to really know but cats are pretty smart themselves as well.

I saw a video on youtube,a soldier returning from Iraq, and at home he had a dog and a cat.

His wife filmed the reaction of their pets. When the dog saw him,he started jumping all over him, licking him, realising all kind of noises. And when they filmed cat's reaction, the cat didn't even move it's tail, nothing. It just watched him, completly cold-blooded

I think from studies they did they summarised that cats are more cunning and know how to get what they want whereas dogs are more competent at problem-solving and learning (which is how intelligence in animals is primarily measured with mice, monkeys etc.)

They are surprisingly smart creatures and humans don't give dogs or cats enough credit for it actually. I had a Shiba Inu once and my god this thing wasn't deceiving like a cat....more like an actual snake. This thing was lovely and social and even trained but the second something didn't go it's way he knew exactly how to get it. He led my mum out into the garden once trying to alert her but it was just so he could get into the kitchen alone for food, when some dogs started on him in the street or a bunch of dogs were talking once he got the two other dogs nearby to shout at each other again and slyly walked off....not to mention that high pitched howl they have- he was lovely but menacingly about to run rings round us, thing played mind games with us man I swear.

I've only been an owner to dogs, fishes and a turtle.
Never been interested in having pet cats, since they hated my dogs, intimidated my turtle (RIP), and murdered most of my fishes (RIP too). My grandmother has them, and they're vicious. ._.

I am very allergic to cats, but other than that dogs are more loyal. I agree with Roy Mustang on this topic.

Dogs.
Because I hate waking up in the middle of the night with something laying on my chest looking down and seeing two glowing eyes staring at me from inches away. Plus dogs have more personality.
