I hardly think it is fair to compare the resolve of Kakashi and Naruto seeing as one is an adult who has seen everyone he cared about killed and has taken part in wars and killed probably hundreds of people with a kid who, as far as I remember, has never actually killed anyone and grown up during a time of relative peace and is an idealist like Jiraiya. Kakashi on the other hand has already had hope and lost it so he is way more realistic. I would like to see how Naruto would be now if Sasuke or Sakura were dead. Admittedly, he seemed to have grown up after Jiraiya died but then he immediately went to the whole world peace thing.

Kakashi (and even Minato) have shown much better resolve than Jiraiya and Hiruzen though in my opinion. He got the biggest shock of his life and was able to process it and realize his priorities, and took the best approach where he said that for the sake of the old obito, he had to kill this one, because this one had tarnished the memories of his real friend. No mercy.

I think it's a valid argument. On the other hand, however, a ninja is a ninja and every ninja is expected to behave the same - everyone who becomes a ninja automatically accepts that they will have to kill and make hard decisions.
Thus, IMO it IS fair to compare them, since both are ninja.

No I'm saying the decisions he is making now are a perfect example of why comparing these two is fruitless.

The harsh realities Kakashi suffered is why he can make these choices. The sheer nothingness of Naruto's childhood is why (when he actually makes a bond) he can't let go like others can.

Comparing their "resolves" is kind of pointless here because one is a damaged man who has already learned about losing people the hard way. The other is a damaged teenager who hasn't experienced the feeling of "loss" to the same degree. Meaning their decision making in this particular field is going to be vastly different.

Thread closed, enough has been said! =D

But yeah, Naruto took that much time to let "go" of Sasuke because he treasures all the bonds he makes, while Kakashi on the other end has experienced WAR twice, he lost many people he loved, so he began to treasure the memories he has of those people. That's why he decided to kill the "current" Obito, because this Obito is tarnishing his memory of the hero of the 3rd Shinobi World War, Uchiha Obito!

I agree with this dude, when iruka gave naruto a headband in part 1,he told naruto from here on it is going to be hard and difficult.that is what a ninja entails war, death, losing a love one, killed in action and so on but naruto just didn't get it. instead of training he was chasing after sasuke still weak as hell and when he had the chance to get sasu back, sasuke used him and sai as a warm up training showing him reality is different from dream.he should walk is own part and leave sasuke alone but if sasuke attacks konoha he should be the one to end his life(this is shinobi).

Naruto is 16-years old. Yeah, he's a teenager but a pretty grown up one. He's experienced death. Plus, he's a ninja. No matter how much it might upset him he needs to do what needs to be done.
