@Everyone, If you have Tips or Guides on Mafia Games you can post them in a thread with the Discussion Thread Prefix in the mafia games forum. If it is a good guide then it will be linked in the pinned main guide.
Hello everyone, I wanted to showcase two major changes that will be implemented for further games.
The First Change- When it comes to factions, there are two things, Faction Name and Faction Type. The Faction Name can be anything depending upon the theme but the faction type will always be determined by the descriptions posted "here". This means that game hosts can no longer use the wrong terminology and cause confusion among players. It will also stop the negative trend of hosts hiding Cults by calling it Mafia (Yes it has happened in games). It is up to you as a host if you want to mention the type of faction or keep it hidden to make the game more interesting. But if you going to mention the type of faction it must always be correct and match the descriptions in the guide.
The Format that should be followed when it comes to mentioning Faction Name and Faction Type should be something like this:-
Faction Name (Faction Type).
The Faction Name is the flavour/theme name of the faction. The Faction Type is in brackets and depending upon your choice you can keep it or remove it entirely. An example is below:-
Konoha (Town) Akatsuki (Mafia) Otogakure (Cult)
As a host you need to be consistent here, if you going to mention the faction type of one faction, you need to mention the faction type for all the factions in the game.
If you are unsure which type the faction in your game falls under, you should ask a game manager to review the faction and give you an answer.
The Second Change- From now on, it is mandatory for all hosts are factions to use the colours as mentioned in the descriptions "here". If you are going to use a colour, it must appear in the role PM's and write-ups. If you want to, you can not use any colour to make the game more interesting. If you are going to use colours to designate factions it must be consistent with the descriptions in the guide. This will stop confusion among players when the colours used do not match with what is stated in the guide.
If there are multiple factions of the same type then you can use different shades of the faction colour. For example, if you have Two Mafia in your game, you can use Light Red for one mafia faction and Dark Red for the other mafia faction. As an example:-
Konoha (Town) Akatsuki (Mafia) - This is Mafia Faction 1 and it has Light Red. Otogakure (Cult)- This is Mafia Faction 2 and it has Dark Red colour.
If you have too many factions of the same type you might run out of distinct shades of the same colour. In that case, you should avoid using colours at all. For example, if a game has five mafia factions, there is no need to designate each faction with a colour.
These changes have been done to bring consistency between games. The Rules guide will be updated to eventually mention these details. I hope this leads to an improved mafia gameplay experience for everyone.
A game is balanced when all factions present in the game have an equal chance of victory.
For example, if in a mafia game, there is a Town and a Mafia, then after considering all possibilities of how the game might play out, both factions should have a 50 per cent chance of victory. Then the game is balanced.
ABC Mafia will be participating in Season 6 of the Global Forum Mafia Championship. We will send two representatives from our community to participate. Everyone is free to show their interest in being a representative. If you want to be a representative, you should keep a reason on "Why would you like to represent ABC" ready. This is because the representatives will be chosen by voting and a good reason will improve your chances of selection.
