It's been made more than obvious that Obito was capable of using Mokuton, and quite efficiently so as stated Zetsu, when he was young. So why hasn't he been using it ever since he appeared in the series? Especially now against Kakashi's team?

Just saying. If he didn't follow Madara's plan back then, what chance did he have of living? Madara gave life back to Obito with that Zetsu substance. He can probably shut him down anytime he wants, if he were not to obey. And so could Zetsu while Madara was gone.
