Razorfens

The Razorfens are a sprawling series of caverns surrounded by large, razor-tipped vines that cover both every cavern wall inside their spacious interior and the outside of the caverns. Inside, the caverns are very dimly lit; there are some minute cracks in the ceiling that let in the smallest amount of light, though it is still almost impossible to see clearly in without another source of light. A few communities scrape out a living near the mouths of the caverns, including new faces fleeing the destruction wrought by Abzu, extracting water from the vines. They tell of monsters in the caverns, but the rumors are unconfirmed.

[Coming from here]

[Prelude]

Sin had risen to the top within a small village that had now risen to become known as the Air Nation in the Thousand Needles, a great feat for someone not looking to lead. But now he was in that position he had to do what was the best for his clan. With the rise of a new wealthier village in the area, they gained unwanted attention. Bandits and local villagers became jealous and began trying to infiltrate, steal and ruin what they had build. Sin took this as a sign the village needed to become stronger, training it's members to be guards when he couldn't, but that would not be enough. So he left the Villages heading south to the main thread, bringing him here, now it was time to solve one of the biggest problems threatening his clan.

Additional information: I'm claiming this landmark for my clan.

Sin arrived at the borders of this land after a days travel. He could of gotten there sooner but he didn't want to draw attention to himself in the process. He didn't want to go in guns blazing, as he wanted to try and solve this in a peaceful way. With his dark red cloak around him and his hood pulled over his head he main his way through the landmark down towards the caverns that made up most of the land. Just from entering these lands he could tell that it wasn't a well off land, it didn't have a safe feel to it. Even he would walk around with his hand near his blade, just in case.

As he walked down he reached the first entrance to the caverns, and what a sight it was. The giant vines that threaded through the rock formations gave a bizarre feel to the area. But he made his way on anyway. Near the entrance was the first sign of what looked like a community, if you could call it that. It mainly consisted of a bunch of stalls and wagons formed around as many gathered at that point. He looked around taking note of the type of people he'd see and the general feel for the area. It was as he thought, it was mainly bandits. Beer wagons, weapon stalls, poisons and such. Basically all the makings of trouble for people. He tried to blend into the ground, slowly passing through hoping to just listen for now while feigning interest. As he hovered around one of the stalls selling various poison's, around the corner he could hear a few voices.

"Yeah, that dumb nation in the north things it's all that now it's got some fancy buildings"

"I know right? Wont be so funny when the entire lake is poisoned and dries up..."

"Ahhh that's not fun why not just go blow up each spire and let it all crumble down crushing them..."

",.,, we could but... hmmm.. whose that guy?"

With that one of the five men pointed towards SIn who looked up at the wrong time. They all walked over, surrounding him. Five in total, seemed from the sounds of it they would be relying on weapons and trickery rather than actual skills. He wasn't intimidated but he didn't really want to fight right here and now.

"So.... what were you looking at? Listening in where you don't belong ay kid?"

"No, sorry, i was just browsing these unique poisons, i haven't seen anything like it before..."

"Oh so you like poisons... i think you should come with us kid..."

Sin thought for a second. He didn't have to go, he could easily deal with all these now, but out in the open like this he would draw to much attention. Now, if they were going to take him somewhere else, why would they? He saw two of the larger men step forwards in a way to intimidate him to follow the first guy into the caverns and with that he decided to go along with it. He wanted to understand the threat to his clan in full before acting

As they reached deep into the caverns the light was scarce, but Sin could see well enough. Stopping the main guy turned around and the other 4 guys blocked the path going backwards. Now the main guy began to speak.

"Did you think i wouldn't recognise you just because you've covered your head... you're the guy that's in charge of that little air nation crap ain't you?"

Sin didn't reply, the man obviously had more to say or he would of tried something by now.

"I'll take that as a yes. You think you're so much better than us because you have such a fancy place. Have all your morals and stuff and now you look down on us, casting us out, you'll pay for that..."

"I knew you were stupid based on your plan but i didn't think you'd be this stupid."

The 5 men tensed but didn't act on Sin's words.

"You know damn well that before, that village was just your picking grounds. You killed who you want even when you didn't need to, you hurt innocent people just trying to live. Now you're mad because they have build something, a community and they want to maintain that peace, yeah right, like i'm going to let you ruin that?"

The men just got angrier now, These men were ready to crush everything that sin had done for the clan, he couldn't let that happen. Now they began to laugh.

"Awww you're acting all tough, but what you don't realise is we have our own unique skills too and you fell right into our trap. You're surrounded by rock and earth is our power, you don't stand a chance."

Looking around now, Sin could see that the earth began to rise up surrounding their bodies forming an armour made of rock around them, some on just their firsts and the main guy had it all over his body. Now one began performing a couple of handseals slamming his hands down, the roof began to shake. Sin quickly performed 2 handseals slamming his hands down as the rock broke. The rocks crushed all around him as the 5 men jumped back, dust and smoke surrounded that bit as the light from above shone down now. Slowly the smoke began to clear. The rock was all piled up.

"Ahaha... he actually fell for it..."

In that moment some of the rock began to fall away to reveal a dome, one of a dark earth like substance, but what was it. The dome pushed the rock away and then began to spiral around moving outwards to reveal sin stood unharmed.

"You have one problem... your earth will never beat my carbon... i control the foundations of life itself.... now... it's my turn..."

The five men rushed towards sin jumping at him. The carbon around sin took form, shooting out three swords that impaled the men behind him, leaving the main guy and one infront of him. In an instant he'd just killed more than half of them, now he stepped towards the main man.

"I will never... let any of you.... harm my people... i don't care how much blood i have to spill..."

The main guy laughed.

"You fool, even if you kill use here, we are only a few... what do you think everyone else out there is going to do? You don't stand a chance...."

Now sin laughed, his laugh echoed through the caverns. Something had awoken inside him, something from his dark past.

"That's easy... i'll just kill them all too...."

With that Sin's carbon began to take form, forming into a large dragon made of carbon, but in that moment it's eyes glowed blue... with life. This demonic dragon swept forwards stomping on the other man, killing him instantly. The main man was in shock. He released his earth armour and then dropped several smoke bombs and ran past sin shooting towards the cavern entrance running for his life. For the sake of his clan, sin would put an end to all of this now.

The man came running out of the entrance of the caverns, sweating, out of breathe, covered in dust, panting. A look of terror on his face as he shouted at them all.

"Beast... dragon... killed them... it's coming..."

Everyone stopped for a minute then just laughed, making remarks of him being a cowards, deranged and pathetic. But a few moments later they heard something echo through the caverns, like a roar. Stopping, they all turned looking to where the man came from, confused. Silence fell over the area. Waiting, the air grew tense and still.

From the cavern a huge dragon burst forth grabbing the final man in it's mouth crushing him to death instantly. From here what followed was a pure massacre. The dragon would stomp, slash, claw anyone and everything in sight while SIn stood on his back. It would release blasts of chakra destroying poisons and weapon alike. Slaughtering every last one of them. He wouldn't let them harm his village, if any escaped he'd make sure they knew why.

"Remember this... this is punishment for all those who dare threaten the Air nation. If you want to live here, you live here out of our kindness alone. This land is now ours. Now surrender, swear your loyalty and live in peace with us or die an enemy of our state..."

They had tried fighting back, it was useless, nothing they could do could even lay a scratch on the dragon and so the remaining bandits lay down their arms and give up, they were utterly defeated. With that the dragon stopped, he remained still as sin stood on it's head.

"I will hold no grudge against any of you as long as you live in peace with the people of the air nation following their rules, fail to do so and you will see what happens. From now on this land will be part of their nation, and you will be it's people, we will build something great here. Spread word of what happened here, because it will be worse for those who even dare try to harm my people again...."

Rank: S
Type: Supplementary/Attack/Defence
Range: (on users back, can be controlled at all ranges)
Chakra Cost: 20 per turn
Damage Points: N/a
Description: The user will perform 2 handseals slamming their hands oin the ground performing a summoning jutsu to summon a gourd of carbon. This is a gourd of carbon link Gaara's sand gourd on his back. This Carbon gourd is full of a powder form of carbon which the user carries around with them all the time and is constantly infused with the users chakra. This carbon powder can be reformed to make up different atomic structures of carbon for different purposes in battle. Much like gaara's sand, this Carbon can be used for attacks or defence that require a carbon source by the user at any time. Due to this carbon already being infused with the users chakra then can control and manipulate it almost instantly to suit their needs. The carbon is linked to the user and will come to there defence, as it is infused with the users chakra. It can keep up with up to 2nd gate speed, and can block S ranks and below.

Note: The defencive ability can only be used once ever 2 turns and only used 5 times per battle
Note: The defencive ability counts as a jutsu.

Rank: A
Type: attack/defence
Range: short - mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: This jutsu allows the user to bend and control carbon (through body movements) that they have already created or taken control off, to bend it into different shapes or forms by controlling the carbon's atomic structure. The user can use this jutsu to bend carbon and control it's movement much like Gaara can with his sand. For example if the user were to throw a carbon kunai they could change it's trajectory in the air.

(kurokongouseki Seirei) - Carbon spirit
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary/Attack/Defence
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 40 + 10 per turn to sustain
Damage Points: N/A (60 dmg each attack)
Description: After having summoned the carbon gourd onto the users back, they can focus their chakra performing 1 handseal, causing it to take its true form. The carbon in the gourd is linked with the user and always has the users chakra infused into it, but when this activated, the true form requires more chakra due to it's power and abilities. The carbon gourd in it's true form takes the image of the demons that appear in most nightmares. The beast is 10 meters from head to the tip of it's tail, has a skellington appearence, is 5 meters tall and has a wing span of 10 meters. The beast has eyes and a tongue made of pure chakra that burns any one to touch it apart from the user. (see the image below). The beast takes on the same attributes as the gourd, it's speed and desity and it's link with the user. The used can control the beast just with their chakra but this takes it's toll on the user meaning they can only use 2 jutsu per turn while the carbon is in this form. Up to 3 times per battle, this demon can focus the chakra within its body into its mouth and fire it as a concentrated blast of pure chakra with a 1ft diameter in any direction. The beast has the ability to fly as its wings are made from carbon fibre, one of the lightest known solids. The beast can flap its wings with great force to increase wind currents sending a blast of wind at their target. The Dragon can be made in short range from the user due to the gourd but be controlled up to all ranges.

Note: As long as the carbon is in this form it counts as one of the 3 jutsu per turns.
Note: Must have summoned the carbon gourd first.
Note: The chakra blast from the beasts mouth is A rank and can only be used twice. (costs an extra 40 chakra from the user) And counts as one of the three moves per turn
Note: The wind blast is as strong as a A rank blast of wind and can only be used twice. And counts as one of the three moves per turn
Note: The beast can control carbon and use carbon techniques
Note: -20 chakra for each turn the user has this.
(Yoton: Jigoku ni henkō) - Yang Release: Change into Hell
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra cost: N/A (+50, -10 per turn)
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user is able to use his Yang nature to embue life into an elemental technique, creating a Yang/Element sentient entity that will stay on the field to aid him. The only limit is the size of the technique originally used as an elemental source as the resulting entity will always be half the size. This entity can be interacted with, can act on its own and is made of the element sourced, with all its properties intact. Its strength is based on the original elemental technique used as a source. This doesn't consume time since its actually a skill applied to a technique used at the same time.
Note: Usable 3 times per battle and up to 6 times per event to create one entity with up to 300 chakra points that is able to use jutsu from the source it was created from.
Note: Yang Release masters can apply this technique to advanced fields and CE and advanced elements.

Continuation of Mission

Hades journey continued, into the sprawling cavernous region of the razor ferns. Earlier, from the Oasis, he had picked up a few rumors from travellers, however it seemed nothing was confirmed. Some say people dwelled in the caves, some say that the monsters who hide in its depths make the area uninhabitable. Hades spent half a day visiting an assortment of caves, making sure to avoid the razor sharp vines, yet he found no one. It wasnt until the sun began to set, that Hades finally stumbled across a small group of inhabitants. The group was no larger than fifty people, yet they seemed to be suffering the same fates, horribly malnourished, yet, they where walking around, albeit a little weak. Stepping into the cavern, Hades glanced around, noticing the water dripping from the sharp vines, and the peoples make shift lodgings somewhat surrounding the water source. As Hades stepped in, one of the group came up to him.

Rare, to see someone stumble upon our caves. What can we do for you traveler? We don't have much, unfortunately.

Well, luckily i do no come needing anything, but i am here to assist. Tell me, what is your situation?

The mans eyes went slightly wide, mild surprise, but they lacked any such hope in Hades words, and yet, there was a small snippet of hope that glimmered in the dull cave.

Well...we ran out of food a long while back. We used to be able to get food from deeper in the cave, but the monsters have been more active since the calamity struck us. They are angry and hungry, just like us all. Luckily, we have endless water supply, but we are still horribly weak, and lack any such ability to venture deeper into the cave.

I see, what kind of food did you obtain from the cave, might i ask?

We called it blightweed. Its a small fruit which glows with a dull blue light. You cannot miss it, however we have run out of those fruits as deep as we could go safely.

I see, and where might i find deeper entrance to the caverns? I am more than willing to go and find a safe route for you, and clear out any such creatures who may get in the way.

Towards the light thats coming from above. If you keep walking, you'll reach a fork. The left, where we once had food, leads to a dead end, the right, is where we dare not venture.

Glancing towards the fading light, Hades merely nodded, and began walking. As he passed the group, murmurs could be heard, confused people as Hades walked past. As soon as Hades entered the cave however, nothing but darkness met him. It was so pitch black, that Hades was unable to see see his own hand directly in front of his face. This would not do at all. Using his Wood release, Hades created a large walking stick, with a large bulb at the top. Then, with his Fire release, Hades ignited the top, creating a make shift torch. As the light lit up the cave, Hades could see that, the right side forked once more, splitting off again. Closing his eyes, Hades listened. From the right, he heard nothing, just the dripping of water. To the left, a low growl, it was faint, but it seemed like something was back there.

(Mokuton: Moku no Goku Rendan) - Wood Release: Wood Pole Combo
Type: Offensive
Rank: D
Range: Short
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Description: The user creates a thin pole of wood from either the ground or himself. The pole itself can be used as a hand to hand weapon to strike opponents or as a support tool.

(Katon no Jutsu) - Fire Release Technique
Type: Offensive
Rank: D
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 10
Damage: 20
Description: The user will release a small but powerful flame of fire at their opponent from either their limbs (through movement) or exhaling it. It can produce fire balls or fire streams or simply aid in taijutsu.

As Hades got closer to the sound, a fluorescent light began to illuminate from in front of him. As he got closer, the cave opened up, to reveal thousands of small fruit, each one letting off its own little light. As Hades looked closer, it seemed like the fruit had some kind of nutrient in it, which reacted with the water from the vines, causing them to glow. It was a curious thing, as Hades picked one and pocketed it for later, to see if he could replicate it. However, in the middle of the cave, was the problem. A large animal, looked to be a lion of some sort, lay sleeping in the middle of the cave. While it was big, it was very much out of place, confusing Hades to no end. However, in his moment of thought, the creature awoke, roaring loudly as the cave shook. The Lion itself looked malnourished, and was likely just surviving on water. Hades predicament was how to kill it. As the large beast charged, and leapt at Hades, Hades channeled his wood release into the ground, causing it to sprout up, a myriade of vines piercing the lion. Hades plan was to simply hold it in place, however, as the vines made contact, piercing its underbelly, the Lion vanished, in a puff of smoke.

Hades blinked a few times, somewhat confused, yet at the same time, it made sense. A summoning creature, left in the cave, and as Hades scanned where the lion slept, it became even more obvious what had happened. A skeleton of a man lay against the cave wall, clearly having passed long ago. It seemed like, he had summoned the lion to protect him, and during this time, passed on from his injuries, which where obvious from the smashed rib cage. A single summon, protecting its master, how poetic. As this cave was also a dead end, Hades went back, this time going right, and towards the end of the cave. Fortunately, on the right side, was a near identical image, thousands of glowing fruit, with no further pathways, dual dead ends.

Returning to the one he had spoken to, Hades relayed the information.

Apologies for the delay. It seems like the monster you feared, was a ninja's personal summon, left to protect him as he had died some time ago. However, the cave is now clear, and safe. You have enough fruit to last some time, but you may have to move eventually, as the both back caverns are dead ends, with no way to go further.

The man stood wide eyed, in disbelief. Swallowing back a lump, he spoke.

I cannot thank you enough, for us all. Is there any way i can repay you, we can repay you?

Simply, Hades shook his head, a tight smile crossing his lips, as people began to come see what the duo where talking about. The man, turning, mentioned the news, and two young children rushed off, to tell the others. As they did, Hades simply turned, exiting the cave, he had much more to do

Mission: A rank

- Be confronted by your bijuu
- Form a pact with your bijuu

A month had passed since Sin had lost his brother, it had ruined him. He lost his appetite, his drive to travel, to do anything but curse his own existence. He moved away from civilisation and hid in the depths of the land of wind. He fought the tiredness as much as he could in fear of the demon within him taking control, but he was human. His body became heavy and weak until his eyes felt like they were being weighed down by 10 tonnes of led. Before he knew it, he opened his eyes to a dark world he didn't recognise. He took several steps forwards through the dark, the flood plashed below him as he walked, was he in some sort of cave? How did he get here?

Helloooo... is there anyone here?

His words echoes through the area but didn't bounce back, how big was the place. Until a voice came back. It was not his voice, it screeched against his very being as he fell to the ground. What was this smell? It was like iron. He drew his sword stumbling to his feet looking around. The room began to light up, yet he wasn't ready for what was revealed. The world was that of pure horror, the floor covered with blood, his clothes stained. A satanic laugh came from behind him as he slowly turned.

You must be registered for see images

As he looked up, there it was, the demon from his nightmares. The reason he'd lost his entire family. The one tailed beast. He stumbled backwards, holding up his blade as he tried to create some distance from the beast. Though the more he moved, the larger the beast seemed.
S... stay back...

He was consumed by fear, but why? He'd never faced this beast, he'd never been hurt by it, it was those around him that seemed to be hurt. The rumbling came from the beast that came as a shrieking laugh before it spoke.

What will you do... boy... this is my world... you thought coffee would keep you from falling asleep? You thought you could control me? A cretin like you...

He knew it all. He knew how much Sin had tried supress the beast. He needed to get away, he turned and sprinted now. Maybe there was a way out? Maybe if he could just wake himself he could escape this world and find another way to deal with this beast. He thought he was getting away but the ground before him rose up, wrapping around his feet, binding them. More and more the ground rose, binding him, he tried to fight it, cut at it, but it was no use. How as a fluid binding him, why was it so tough. He struggled against it but the more he struggled the more it tightened around his body, beginning to crush him.

The liquid that bound it was changing now, the top layer dripped away revealing what was truly binding him. Sand. What kind of ability was this. He was struggling to breathe now. The pressure was insane. The area in front of him started to move as dust and sand started to spiral slowly clumping together to form the 1 tailed beast looming over Sin.

You must be registered for see images

You're trying to fight against the consuming power of the desert, it's pointless boy. You're pathetic, you're all alone, you're trapped and there is nothing you can do...

The beast was right. He was done for. Maybe that was for the best. All he loved were gone, everyone hated him for this thing within him. What kind of life was that. He closed his eyes ready to accept the end of his pathetic existence. Yet nothing came. He was still in a lot of pain, the pressure was intense but that's all's it was. Was he to die a slow painful death trapped in this world? He opened his eyes looking at the beast trying to shout.

You really are a dick, if you wanna be free just kill me already... stop being a coward!

He shouted as the beasts face displayed its rage at the jibes. In a flash his hand was crushed. A flash of insane pain shot through him as Sin screamed in agony. The sand had compacted shattering all the bones in his body. He cried and screamed but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't make handseals, he wasn't strong enough to force his way out of the sand, he was this beasts play thing.

You... ass.... hole... why... why are you taking everything from me!!!

He screamed as tears poured down his face. The pain surged through him as the beast grinned back at him, the sand growing tighter around his other hand. This was where he died, the beast would have its way and be free. Taking all that Sin had left... but... why wasn't he just killing Sin and escaping. Clearly he had to power to.

What are you waiting for!!

Did he enjoy Sin's suffering this much? Why would he, he could make the world suffer.

You don't have the balls to kill now, is that it?

The beast's face turned to one of anger as it's voice screeched once more through his very being.

The sand that binds you is the blood of those who dared question my power boy... including that brother of yours and you question my will to kill?

The thought hit Sin harder than any pain the beast could have inflicted on him physically. Knowing the ability bound him was soaked in the blood of his older brother. But he had the power to kill like that why couldn't he just go on another rampage? Clearly Sin couldn't stop him.

If you could do that, why waste your time on me? Why sit in this little world, all alone with me, what's wrong, can't go out and play without permission?

With that Sin's legs shattered under the pressure of the crushing sand. He blacked out for a moment from the pain, it was too much.

You... can't...can you? You need me? Don't you? But why...

Silence cretin....

You're doing this... to show you're in control... why don't you just kill me... unless you can't...

The sand grew tighter as it rose him up to be eye level with the beast, he could feel it's breathe on him.

You think I need a pathetic creature like you? Someone who is helpless and can't defend themselves even from the harshness of the desert, who can't even save their family.

The beast was talking now, rather than just trying to torture him. What was it he wanted.

If I die, you die....

The beast stopped, saying nothing, the sand binding Sin loosened slightly.

That's why you haven't killed me, you need me... You don't want to be stuck bound to me as much as I don't want you, right?

Hmph, who would want to bound to a piece of shit like you...

Maybe there was hope.

It looks like you've got no choice.... neither do eye... right now...

The beast raised an eyebrow, his attention was gotten.

Release me.... lend me your strength and I'll do what ever I can to release you from being bound to me...

The beast didn't say anything, but the sand moved Sin closer but loosened it's grip, he could finally breathe again but his body seared with pain.

Why would I trust you? Why would you want to help someone who is the reason for the death of your family?

Help? I don't want to help you.... but I don't want to be cursed by having you as part of me, longer than I have to... lend me your power... I'll find a way...

The sand suddenly released causing Sin to plummet towards the liquid below, as he hit it, he woke back to reality that he was away from everyone, his hand and legs were fine, the pain gone. He was awake. He was safe. Was it all a dream? He sighed in relief, until a voice echoed in his mind.

Best get moving.... boy....

The sand around him swirled up in a tornado before falling to the ground. It was real. The deal was made.

Explore the caverns for ore (B). (GST ore mission)
It had been a long time since Sin had been in the Lands of Earth, at least it felt that way. He’d spent the most of his time here on the run and here he was, back again. He knew of these caverns from his previous travels though he’d always avoided coming this way. If he had another choice, he wouldn’t be here, but he needed the ore for the armour he wished for. Something about his interactions with the monks made him instinctively trust the smith in what they said and requested, even if it did come with an attitude problem. Though, if he’d spent millennia crafting parts for a house….

He was getting distracted, he needed first to find an entrance to the caverns. Searching for half an hour, he eventually found a gap he could slide through. He thought of forcing his way into the caverns, but this would come with two risks. Firstly, he didn’t know the structural integrity of the catacombs that were made up in these parts.

Trying for force his way in could cause it all to collapse and leave him with ten times the amount of work. Secondly, he’d heard the rumours. If there was any truth to the creatures within these caverns, the last thing he’d want to do is draw attention to himself. He just wanted the ore needed to craft his weapon, then leave.
Sliding into the cavern he could barely see. Taking a torch from his pack, he lit it up, holding it out as he began to walk down the narrow passage into the depths. He moved slowly and cautiously. Something about being here didn’t feel right, the air was thick, cold, and left a chill unlike any other. He drew his unique blade holding that out. This blade sentient infused with the power of the Shukaku had two eyes on the hilt allowing him to see even more. The flickering flames of his torch casting shadows across the walls.

As he passed through the caverns, he held the torch up to cast the light on the walls a bit at a time, searching for any form of metal that way stand out to him. He knew this was the best place to search but he wasn’t even sure what he was searching for. What would make a fitting supplement for such an amazing tool crafted by a smith who’d trained for years beyond count. It was almost daunting trying to figure out what could be brought to the smith without insulting him in the process. He let out a sigh and continued down into the depths of the caverns.

He wasn’t sure how much time had passed but it felt like an eternity. He stopped constantly picking up bits of rock, examining them to see if they held any form of metal with in before dropping them once more. He scoured the walls, searching for anything that may stick out. All he found was some small fragments of what seemed like iron. Hardly fitting for the craft he was seeking. He began to take small risks, using the bijuu related skills to loosen some of the rock by breaking down the rock slowly into sand. Through this he could slowly dig into the rock to search for ore without creating shocks or loud noises in the process.

He wasn't sure, but he was sure he could hear sounds coming from the depths of the caverns as though the earth itself was groaning. His torch failed to cast enough light for him to see in the distance. Was it just the sound of water that had sank into the depths of the earth? Was it just the wind that carried through the gaps in the rock, billowing down the endless tunnels? Something about it sounded more like the groans of an animal, something wasn't quite right here.

It was a slow process, but it was proving a better option that just hoping to find something of value lying around. He found a few bits of metal that he wasn’t sure what they were as well as a few gemstones. He took a few of these, placing them in his bag as they might help him with trades in the future. He kept slowly breaking down parts of the walls slowly, when suddenly a large chunk of the wall shattered like a shell, crumbling down in front of him revealing an open cavern. He paused, hesitating for a moment. The sound of the crumbling wall still echoing around the passageways. After a few moments the sound died down and all that remained was a cloud of thin dust in the air.

Slowly, Sin stepped through the opening into a large room holding out his torch to see what secrets it held. Slowly moving the torch from left to right, the room illuminated. It immediately caught his eye. There in a lump of rocks a series of spiked metal lay. It was majestic, unlike anything he’d ever seen. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He walked forwards slowly looking around before sheathing his sword. He reached out to the rock trying to pick it up, though it was extremely heavy. He heard a sound, the ground rumbled. The rocks moved as from the right two glowing eyes stared at him….

Mission Start:

Fight the creature to attain the ore (B rank)

What the hell was going on? Why was the ground moving? What was this thing? Sin backed away almost dropping his torch in the process as the ore he’d tried to pick up was now raising from the ground. The two eyes that glared at him, like that of a serpent. It was as though the rock was coming to life turning to him. The creature rose to its full form standing two feet taller than Sin. Its body formed of scales of what seemed like a dark rock while the ore that Sin had tried to lift was running down its spine like a spiked turtle shell.

Sin slowly backed up to where he’d come in. He could hear the heavy breathing of the creature in front of him. What should he do? Maybe, just maybe, this creature would willingly give over one of those chunks of ore lodged in its back and go back to sleep. Was that too much to hope for? Of course, it was. A large claw the size of Sin’s head lashed out swiping at his side. His sand acted on its own creating a barrier for the claw to smash into. Although the sand held the claw back, Sin could feel the pressure behind the strike. What was this creature? How long had it been down here?

It snarled baring fangs of pure black. It began to unleash a torrent of strikes, slashing at Sin trying to bite him. It moved with such ferocity; its lumbering form shook the room as it moved. He could feel the tremors through the ground. If this kept on the entire structure would come down on his head. With a few hand gestures, he caused the sand from his gourd to shoot out surrounding the creature, wrapping around it. He tried to bind its arms, to restrain it before it brought the cavern crashing down but it was so strong. If he used his sand to crush it, would it ruin the ore he was trying to gain from its back?

Sin had little time to contemplate the integrity of the ore attached to the beast as it burst through the binding sand, lunging towards Sin. Its claws outstretched, aiming to slash his chest. Sin went to step back out of instinct. His ankle caught on a rock protruding from the ground. The world below him seems an eternity away. The beast in front seemed closer by the moment. He froze. Panic consumed his soul as rational thought escaped his mind in that never ending moment. The scene before him shattered as the sand of his gourd sprung forth forming a barrier between the beast and him, halting it's advance.

The clash of the beast and the barrier of sand shook the very air around it. The walls rumbled as a quake shook through them. The whole structure felt uneasy. A sense of relief washed over Sin as he regained his composure. He wasn't weak. He'd been in worse situations and overcome them. He drew on the power of the beast within as the dark read chakra formed a shroud around him. With renewed strength, the sand wrapped around the creature, encasing it's entire form.

The sand compacted, binding tighter and tight, yet avoiding the ore on the back of the beast. Their eyes met. The beast let out a tremendous roar that echoed through the catacombs. Outstretching his arm, Sin clenched his fist and crushed the beast in an instant. A dark ooze seeped through the sand as the light of the beasts eyes faded to darkness. The sand slowly released the beast, returning to the ground on Sin's back. He stepped forwards, reaching down to grasp the chunk of ore, ripping if from the beast's corpse.

Releasing the chakra cloak, he wiped the sweat from his brow as he placed the metal in his pouch on his belt. Turning to leave, happy with the result. Fear gripped him. The catacombs shoot as familiar beastial cries came from all around. The was more than one!
