Why Do So Many Manga Have Short Animes?

I've been pondering about this for a while now but why do so many popular manga have such short anime's? High School of the Dead, Hellsing, Deadman Wonderland, Blue Exorcist and several other relatively popular manga have anime's that span just ten to twenty episodes, barely one season whereas others, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece have hundreds, even if said manga have plenty of chapters.
It's not a major issue, just kinda annoying. Is it because they're not popular enough? Or something else.

As far as I know, season 1 of HOTD was finished and a second season hasn't been planned. Maybe because the manga is on hiatus, and it would be pointless to release more episodes if the manga is being released so slowly.

Kinda the same for Blue exorcist I guess.

well it has some reasons like catching up with the manga
for example : Ao no Exorcist is a monthly manga and the anime was weekly so the anime caught up with the manga quickly and since the anime is based on the manga so they can't make more episode without the event that happens in the manga so they made an ending for it which is not from manga , i think its the same reason for Soul Eater too .

i still don't know why beelzebub stopped thought . maybe because of animes popularity

another reason is that they want to have more events in the manga and then animate it instead of making bunch of filler like Gintama they stopped so that they will have more manga events and then animate it again in another season after taking some rest , now the manga have enough event for 3-4 arcs it will began airing again in this october
