Why Kisame is top 8.

Who can he beat in the top 10? Or top 20 for that matter. No one.

There's never been an official list of who is top. I keep seeing list after list after list.

Deidara probably has a shot in beating him, Nagato of course will win, Tobi destroys him? If you mean Sharingan Tobi that will not be an easy one, Kakazu to me was weaker than Kisame, how will Sasori win this battle? He lost Chiyo and Sakura!

Kisame can absorb chakra, all jutsu is chakra based.

He also has decent speed, and has shown pretty good reflexes.

Also, Kisame has huge environmental jutsus.

and... 1000 summons.

You underestimate Sasori! He takes this one for sure. 1 scratch and he wins. Not very hard to doooo. Even in the huge water dome, he just has to poison the water, and he wins again. Iron sand will certainly manage a scratch on Kisame.

kisame one of the original akatsuki... deidara and sasori are like kids compared to him. kakuzu is fodder when it comes to kisame. mmmm elemental dessert...tasty!

yeah he can beat just about anyone. he can change and control the battlefield at will and trap them in water dome. giant shark bullet counters ninjutsu. thousand sharks overwhelm with numbers

um gai is extremely skilled and a good counter for a chakra absorbing shinobi. gais easly top 25

C4 is made of chakra infused nano bombs. Samehada simply absorbs them and makes it useless. Also since Kisame can breathe underwater like a shark, he won't breathe in the nano bombs through his lungs. Also Kisame has sensory abilities, when he is fused with samehada so he is pretty hard to beat. Also Kisame is better than Kakuzu.

Wow I never thought of that. If Sasori can easily poison the water than I guess Kisame has no chance. It seems more like a bad match up to me because I feel Kisame is stronger than Sasori. IMO he is the 4th strongest member of Akatsuki. However, wouldn't samehada just absorb Sasori's chakra strings thereby making Sasori's puppetry useless since he won't be able to control it?

Kisame is hella strong, but I don't think he's powerful enough to be in the Top 8. He's probably in the Top 20 somewhere.

I think the characters below would be able to defeat Kisame:
Madara (EMS or Edo)
Edo Nagato (if he's able to move)
Hashirama
Tobirama (possibly, due to S/T and mastery of Suiton)
Minato (this could go 50/50, he is fast enough to blitz Kisame with sealing techs, but he could be defeated if Kisame merges with Samehada)
Obito (Kamui to teleport objects and himself, Gedo Mazo)
Kakashi (possibly due to Kamui and Raikiri/Raiton to deal with Suiton techs)
Naruto (Bijuu Mode)
Kabuto (Dragon Sage Mode)
Itachi (Susano'o and Totsuka Blade/Yata Mirror)
Gai (8 Gates and Daytime Tiger)
Raikage A (speed and Raiton)
Mu and Oonoki (Dust Release, ability to fly)
Gaara (possibly if he can use sand techniques to stop Suiton)
