I disagree kakashi is not on Itachis level. Itachi can determine an outcome of a battle right at the start and he knows precisely what move he is going to do next just like shikamaru but not as complex.

Yh but didn't shikamaru alone used his intelligence to beat Hidan? And Itachi is so clever he can predict the future accurately for example that crow he put in Naruto that actually helped Naruto when the time came.

The crow was meant to put a genjutsu on Sasuke when Naruto would clash with Eternal MS Sasuke.
It was plain luck that Itachi met Naruto before that happened.
Heck, Itachi himself stated that he would never expect something like this happening.

As for Shikamaru, yep, he beat Hidan. Still, Hidan was probably the dumbest member of Akatsuki and not powerful either. If he wasn't immortal, he would be strong chuunin level at maximum.

Apart from Kages and Sannins, Kakashi is probably the most renowned modern ninja in the Shinobi World. He was appointed the general of several thousand chuunins and jonins. He is considered the greates genius of his generation.

And people actually state he is just middle class. Despite his Sharingan being on similar level to Itachi's, despite the fact he is able to cut lightnings. That's a really strange phenomenon.

Uh huh. Kakazu's skill level as well as Chakra capacity go beyond Kakashi's for obvious reasons.

This is what we are talking about when we mean underrated.

The fact that Tsunade and Jiraiya recommend him as an OBVIOUS choice for Hokage over people like Gai means nothing to some.

If you didn't notice either, his chakra is actually steadily improving.

Him, Gai, and Sai are some of the few who survived the battle with the seven swordsmen which included Chidori and Sharingan use along with who knows what else.

Now he is holding his own against a few tailed beasts, I feel as though there are many inconsistencies with Kakashi's strength but he is definitely Kage level. The fact that Deidara said he uses the Sharingan at around Itachi's level (albeit less techniques) stands for itself.

At the very least, Kakashi could take on Deidara. Deidara was also fairly confident that he could take on Oonoki (having possibly wanted to settle the score with his old teacher for some while), and Deidara himself said that Kakashi was strong. That doesn't put Kakashi above Oonoki of course because I don't think that Kakashi is, but Kakashi more or less was stronger than Sasuke at the time as he had the same abilities (for the most part) along with Kamui.
