Eventually, everyone will be exposed to other cultures. We, as anime fans are a prime example. Except we are called Weebs. Even though it’s derogatory term, it’s not deemed as appropriation, but more as a pathetic expression of interest.

Well, have you heard the term Culture Vulture? Or maybe cultural appropriation?
Urban Dictionary -
Someone who steals traits, language and/or fashion from another ethnic or social group in order to create their own identity.

I think this mentality sets up division when it should create unity.

people who use that are baiting.

all culture has had many things derived from many cultures. You cannot "steal" or "loan" a culture. It isn't a property.
Also, what constitute as a culture?

This cultural appropriation BS is only bad if the person has a misunderstanding of the culture before they adopt it.

Cause it makes you look like an arrogant wannabe. And it entails sabotage.

I don’t see the point in getting upset with people creating an identity by using fashion or whatever from another culture.

For me, it would be an honor, and flattering, that people would adopt my culture, or what remains of it. If anything, unfortunate for them, cause they should be proud about their own culture instead imo.

"Inspirations" and vulturing cause you think it's yours, are two different things. Please don't be biased.

Taking ideas without respect for it's origin, means you're undeserving. You think it's cute to just pick stuff up, cause you like the way it looks but have no better understanding of it. It's ignorant.

A culture vulture isn't just someone who adopts things from another culture, but someone who "abuses" another culture. For example, take a musical artist who sees that reggae is getting popular, so he decides to use reggae influences in his music. Then, the popularity starts to go down, and he abandons it completely for something else. The problem there is the "using" of what is considered other people's identities. It's especially a problem when looked at as a somewhat race-related issue, as the biggest offenders of culture vulturing tend to involve racial/ethnic-related elements of a culture.

That isn't the same as say, a white person who's grown up around a culture foreign to their own, and as such have an actual love and appreciation for that culture, so they adopt elements of it into their own identities.
