Don't let the fact that "The Last" had a somewhat happy ending distract you from the fact that Toneri is a mass murderer of extreme proportions. I mean in the movie there are meteors randomly striking all across the world. The great villages almost get destroyed and severely damaged multiple times and are only saved by the high level ninjas with crazy abilities defending them. Assuming a random distribution of the meteors throughout the world you have to assume the meteors struck fairly consistently throughout every part of the world just about. Most of the world would have had no defense and initial warning against the strikes like the great villages did. I would assume the death toll would be in the 100,000's or millions across the world making Toneri deadlier than the likes of the whole Akatsuki or Orochimaru. With this in mind it is kind of crazy how happy the movies ended with Naruto and Hinata even happily inviting Toneri to come visit Earth some time.

Kind of reminds me in the Last X-men movie where Magneto probably kills millions but turns kind of good the last second and no one even cares about the terrible damage he just caused.

Nope, the plot itself was ridiculous ( Toneri’s story )
Also destroying a planet is nothing compared to torturing people endlessly.

The plot was redilculous and seemed like dumb filler. Still since it is supposed to be cannon I will treat it as cannon and use the fact the if meteors were hitting all across the Earth like the ones that almost destroyed Konoha then the death toll globally would have been enormous.

I don't think so unless you have stats for the number of casualties. To my knowledge all the nations were taking measures to ensure minimal losses if any from those meteorites.

Though I believe he would've been had he succeeded in his plan but Naruto and Hinata were there to stop him.

Obito says hi

How many people did Obito kill though? Besides trying to cast the worldwide genjutsu which did not kill anyone at all of his attacks were limited. In the war he maybe kills tens of thousands and in his whole life maybe killed like 100,000 or so. Toneri's attack was worldwide and could have killed millions but was completely overlooked. Also for those that think measures were taken to stop the attack you should know that Konoha was just saved last minute by someone as strong as Sasuke. What would a city somewhere else in the world have done without powerful ninja? We see meteors hit the ground and explode numerous times and you can't assume they all hit in the middle of nowhere. Toneri is a mass murderer of epic proportion and should be treated as such even if he failed to destroy the whole world.

He didnt use his own power to kill that many people, so its not that hes the deadliest it was that eye thing that allowed him.

technically, all major villains (except Kaguya) used power that wasn't originally theirs to do whatever damage they did. A case can even be made for Kaguya, who gained power from the Chakra Fruit.

Just because Toneri used the Tenseigan Device, doesn't mean that he isn't responsible for the damage.

As for the OP, I understand where this is coming from, and it seems logical that a lot of damage would have been dealt from the meteor showers, despite the actions of the Ninjas.

Ignoring the possibility of an 'Americas' being undiscovered in the ninja world, and that all major countries had defenses set up, and that only a select few very high-class ninjas (Sasuke, Gaara, Oonoki, etc) could actually effectively annihilate inbound meteors (even lee's team only split it), it seems logical that there would have bee a high casualty amount despite the defenses.

I wouldn't say it's worse than the Great Ninja Wars, or even the opposite, but I believe the casualty figures should be right up there with them, in no particular order.

you could say the deadliest or if there is a other word....while at subject , they just had to stop the meteors and nothing else... but fodder still got destroyed by one hit...
-Doesnt even come close to Madara,Orochimaru,Obito,Pain,Kaguya.
