Why compare a main character to a secondary character?

Because there are some tertiary characters more explored, interesting and respected by the writer than the specific female lead you're talking about.

Hell, you can make the argument that Ino Yamanaka undergoes more mature growth as a character than protagonist Sakura but hey im not gonna be the one to start that eheheheh

Most main characters are shit compared to secondary characters. IMO, Itachi and Sasuke are better characters than Naruto, Vegeta is a better character than Goku, Killua is a better character than Gon, et cetera, et cetera.

It's because main characters relate to us, and are most of the time normal. While secondary characters are far less relative to us readers. Some of us like characters that don't relate to us more.

Their honestly not comparable.

- Ones a main character and the other is not.
- There's no rivalry between them in the manga.
- Sakura's clearly the superior ninja.
- They both wanted and got different men.
- Their ninjutsu techniques are in different categories.
- Hinata's from a noble clan while Sakura is not.
ect...
