I don't know what you mean by hyped Vanishing Rasengan, there's no such thing. Bolt was already capable of strategizing his shadow clones, to where he allowed one to tag himself into Shikidai's shadow possession, and then sent another clone to attack head on, which pressured Shikidai into using his 'Shadow circle' Jutsu.

Really if you incorporate Boruto's Rasengan, he gets hammered. Shikidai can't determine where it will come from, Boruto can more it even more deadly by allowing clones to distract him while another one prepares the technique, and to make things worse, in the fight Boruto never made his clones target Shikidai at once. It was 1 on 1, even with clones on the field, he used them to his own advantage instead of trying to overpower the opponent, something differentiates his usage of the Clones compared to his Father.

But yeah Shikidai would lose.

. Mainly due to witnessing how he created the chakra natured Rasengan which was stated to be S-Rank in difficulty. There's a high chance that no one in his generation will be capable of unconsciously making such a high leveled 'difficulty' technique, and so far we've only seen C Rank techniques; CES, Shadow Imitation, etc., Though I'd argue that Shikidai's Shadow circle technique is probably A or B rank considering how wide the range is.

However he won't surpass Naruto. I think that's more of a gimmick to draw parallels between Boruto and Gohan, and Sasuke and Piccolo.

Which Kishimoto admitted why he brought them together as Master and Student. Because he really loved DBZ's Gohan and Piccolo.
