I very much doubt this was the case. Zabuza was under his own control, this wasn't a hypnotization. Rather, Kakashi was throwing him off and noticed he was starting to freak out over Kakashi copying him. He theorized what was going through Zabuza's head and finished his sentences from intuition. Or he was just lucky in guessing.

Obviously this was illogical and its why we only saw such ridiculousness in the first major arc.

Haku analyzed the first battle and deduced that Kakashi put Zabuza on genjutsu. It was subtle, and allowed Kakashi to basically play mind games with Zabuza. It's why during the second fight (on the bridge), Zabuza made the mist thicker and kept his eyes closed the entire time. He's a master of silent kill, so he didn't need to see, in order to kill his target.
