Plus the fact that Gaara was said to have best defense according to Naruto when people had access to Susanoo which was better than that...It's clear that not everyone's ability is taking into consideration all the time but feats disprove a lot since Naruto hadn't seen Susanoo's defense come into play. Ay stated he had to up his speed against Edo Madara but Kishi after drew the Gai/Madara situation. Did he forget about what Ay said? Feats come into play most times. It wasn't said Sasuke had the best defense when PS or even Susanoo was shown but based on feats, Gaara's defense claim was debunked.

Is there much tht suggest that Ay knew about Gai's supposedly secret technique or even his full ability? Just because he's a Kage doesn't mean so...Gaara is a Kage but Kakashi had to tell him about the Hacimon when he opened it against Madara.

Tsuande being a Kage does not mean she'll know Gai's full ability..Minato was a Kage but said didn't think Gai couldopen the Hachimon

His (Kidgamer) argument on that old thread though is still much stronger than the argument he's using now and the one you're using and makes more sense. I think it was you he was countering in that thread too.

Yamato saw the explosion and was describing to his comrades exactly what the technique was and even the range the explosion reached. How would yamato know that if he hasn't seen 7th gate before? It's quite obvious don't you think:

It's also clear that Gai only explained to Lee what evening elephant is supposed to be. Come on now, we all know how close Lee and Gais relationship is. Of course Lee will know everything about Gai, they're almost like father and son, they fight the exact same way and use the same techniques. Compared to that of someone like yamato who was in the anbu for most of his life, yet still knows Gais capabilities. Also Gai has a nickname, every ninja with a nickname is usually well known or famous. And when did Naruto talk about Gaara's defence? Ay's statement in the presence of Tsuande and Bee (all ninja veterans, they've been around to see much more than what Naruto has), makes idiot genin Naruto's comments irrelevant. Again, what speed feat puts Gai above Ay, because I certainly haven't seen any. I've seen taijutsu that puts Gai above Ay, but definitely nothing movement speed wise.

Gai was 14 when minato died. Minato had been Kage for like a year? He died before knowing Gai had the gates. So what's your point. Minato not knowing that a kid of 14 years old could open the gates, after only being Kage for a short while... -_- don't think that's his fault. Gai is a full fledged ninja by the time Tsuande is in charge, all Intel on him would be in the Konoha archives (or whatever data they store). Hiruzen would have known exactly what Gais capabilities were, because he was Hokage for years and sent him on many missions. Tsuande would have also read all this information. Tsuande knows what all her jonins (that she's been in charge of for years) are capable of. So if Ay down right States that he's the fastest and Tsuande doesn't disagree, then that's all the evidence I need.

I really hope people aren't going to try to lie to themselves and say that Tsuande was unaware of the seventh gate. Or that Gais eternal rival didn't think it was important to mention that Gai is the fastest man alive. No statement gives Gai that kind of credit or hype, or feat. He's slower than Ay, and no speculation is gonna change that.

Have absolutely no clue what Gold Lightning is trying to claim right now, but the disparity in speed between 7th Gate Gai and v2 Ay is so large that him being lightened by a Tsuchikage isn't going to magically put each other on par. Gai mid diff.
