Kisame is Gai's whipping boy.

The only scenario in which Kisame would ever beat Gai is if gates were restricted.

He can resist pain but not death, Amaterasu is a extreme level of pain, he's not in 8th Gate but in 7th, if he get burnt by it, I don't think he will last much time. Plus Itachi is helped by Totsuka. Gai is certainly faster, but Susanoo is bigger and has a bigger area of impact, you see ?

Yeah, the amaterasu would eventually kill him, though I doubt before he could get an attack off.

Totsuka is interesting. Not sure how to compare it's speed to Gai's. What works in Gai's favor is hirudora has such a large AoE, but if Itachi were to get behind him before he used it, it's over for Gai even if he does take out Kisame in the process.

I also wonder about something else in regards to amaterasu. The gates obviously have a great deal of force exuded when used, and given Nagato was able to push amaterasu away with shinra tensei, and Temari was able to blow it off of someone with her fan, I wonder if the force from gates would blow amaterasu off Gai? It's completely unfounded, and I have nothing to back it up, so I'm not going to use it in a debate, but it's interesting to think about.
Yata is overrated, but I don't think a Taijutsu tech can break it tho'

Possibly not. Hard to tell what Yata can or can't beat.

Kakshi make a great team with Gai, but w/out Kamui, it's just Gai alone vs Team 2.
@Bold Np bro'

Kakashi has more than just kamui in his arsenal. His bunshin feints and knowledge of Itachi is a great asset here, and if nothing else, he can stall Itachi for long enough so Gai can get rid of Kisame. Then it becomes a game of Itachi trying to last long enough to beat them both, which I don't think he can do with Kakashi and Gai's war arc stamina feats.

Refer to my previous post please

Already did.

Because Samehada is going to do what to help Kisame react to Gai?

Even if he fuses with Samehada and "traps" Gai in the water dome, Gai breaks out of it with gates, seeing as it pushes away water:

And even if you want to argue that somehow Kisame's water dome is "stronger" than regular water, Hirudora destroys it with no difficulty what so ever, and seeing as it's not chakra, it can't be absorbed.

Again, there's no scenario short of gates being restricted where Kisame is beating Gai.

Kisame already tanked a hirudora and wasn't dead. If he has samehada, he will recover even faster, just like how he did to killer bee.

He didn't tank anything.

Gai held back to avoid killing him, so he could get the intel from him.

If Gai wanted to kill him and hirudora didn't do the trick even at full power, he could have done it immediately after hirudora ended.

He did tank the hirudora, he was alive after he got hit with it.
Nowhere does it say that guy held back when using hirudora, he simply proceed to immobilize kisame afterwards.
Again, with Samehada at his side, he would recover very fast.

It's common sense, and I just provided the scans that tell you why he would have held back. Gai didn't want to kill him. He didn't even want to use Hirudora at first, the only reason he resorted to it was because he couldn't destroy all of the sharks Kisame had made to find the one carrying the scroll with just Asa Kujaku.

A weakened Hirudora is capable of breaking susanoo, you think Kisame is going to tank it at full power?

Never thought about it, 8th gate could blow Amaterasu off, I've got no doubt it. 7th Gate ? Idk, probably yes. Temari is a universe buster tho' (lol)

He tanked hirudora because the GWB absorbed some impact

Although I'll admit its heavily overrated on here
