Or they just replaced them throughout the leaf village, they couldn't of had sharingans yet so they would really have no inclination to continue the uchiha legacy U_U

Sort of like witness protection lml

Who cares? Kishimoto would have just failed to develop them as well.

Oh, look. You posted bait that all people on NB who loathe Itachi will embrace. Hopefully we can all get a good laugh out of that.

The assignment was to eliminate the entire clan excluding his little brother. There's no way to know. I guess perhaps less than 50? The clan population had decreased over the years.

However, with this being said I don't see how it matters much or affects his character. With his reveal, the author metaphorically wiped his hands clean by setting up a scenario where his clan was dying regardless. The blood of those children falls to the Uchiha adults and Hiruzen/Koharu/Homura/Danzo. No one else.

In fact, ironically, one could say that killing innocent children as well was selfless. Why? Because the alternative to him not doing so is a) They are slaughtered in broad daylight anyway and completely aware of it all, b) The clan is hated by everyone.

Fun Fact: That fanart was created by an Itachi fan in order to show the contrast within his personality. His eyes aren't shown in order to leave it up to the viewer's interpretation: Is he crying? Does he have a downcast expression? Is he emotionless? Just how much does it kill the human being he is to commit such an act like this, how much is he suffering?

Itachi had to do plenty of things he didn't want to do in life. He got screwed over plenty of times. However, this is a good thing. He offers a more realistic version of a good guy in this series. Having heroes in a world of shinobi, as bleak as their setting is, that have no blood on their hands or morally questionable acts is not inspiring, nor is it reasonable... it screams luck and plot protection. Glad that Kishimoto decided to take a chance and go the full stretch with Itachi's character.

The solo king has killed no one, he simply did them the just act of liberating them from this cruel reality.

Itachi does things in a swift and orderly fashion anyway. Those babies didn't feel a damn thing.

Sasuke couldn't have been obky child in the Uchiha clan.

No, I doubt Sasuke was the only child. I imagine there was probably quite a few - they probably didn't marry outside a lot (or bring outsiders in), like I think the Senju probably did. With their bloodline and clan identity, I imagine them to be like the Hyuga - probably inbred to some degree...

With their history, clan identity etc I think it was important for them to spawn plenty children to keep the Clan and bloodline strong. Though I suppose the Third War (and the two previous) had a serious impact on their numbers, all the more so when you consider their capabilities/specialisations and how they'd likely their kids were the first to be turfed out the village and onto the frontlines.
And like the Uzumaki, they were feared - that fear would make them a target so...

Whatever. There had to be enough to keep the Clan strong - to keep their numbers plentiful to fufil their duty as the strongest Clan in Konoha, to staff the Police Force etc.

They had to have decent numbers if they felt it was even remotely possible this coup could work - they'd need a strong generation to follow = lots of kids for Itachi to kill.

Also why I don't think Sasuke was the youngest. He was what, 7 years old? The Clan had no children under the age of 7?
... no. effing. way.
That makes no sense, if you want to be remotely realistic about sustaining a large clan like the Uchiha.

One other thing - that image of Itachi dragging the kid out from his hiding spot? Highly inaccurate portrayal of events. No kid would have heard him coming. No kid would have moved fast enough to put a leg out his bed, nevermind make it across the room and into a closet.
Plus Itachi wouldn't have allowed that vase to break... or the side table to fall, or the painting (?) to slid down the wall...
:noes:
Nuh-uh.
Ain't hapening.

Itachi would have snapped his neck like a twig before he even opened his eyes - just saying =D

We don't even know if he's the one who killed the children of the clan, It could've been Obito.

Plenty. The man was a brutal, mindraping, genocidal and an extremely violent and deleterious madman who did everything he could to destroy the shinobi world. He committed high treason to his village by not giving out any meaningful intelligence, by not doing anything to stop Orochimaru when he had the chance, was complicit in multiple Obito atrocities, helped in the murders of 6 jins and thus indirectly declared war on humanity. The man was so cold hearted, that he went cold turkey with regards to his job to "spy" on the Akatsuki, and also with regards to his duty to protect Konoha, by doing zilch against stopping the tyrannic dictator-like root leader, Danzo. What a hero.

Wasn't slaughtering his Clan enough? Would have thought if Tsunade was entitled to some kind of lame, drunk-ass retirement - then Itachi - after everything he went through - deserved and was given by Hizuren no command after becoming a rogue-nin, but left to his own devices.

Hizuren asked him what he would do, where he would go in the aftermath of the Uchiha Massacre - he never told him what to do.

And unless Kishi dishes out some kind of Itachi Gaiden then we won't know the extent of what Itachi did from within Akatsuki.
Maybe he did sweet f. a.
Maybe he pulled more strings than Sasori did.

Who knows...

I agree with Omar. I just can't see Itachi killing the kids and since kishi didn't hint toward either possibility I'll just blindly believe that Obito killed them.
