Yes, it is definetly possible that Sasuke can awaken the Rinnegan. I don't see any other reason why Kabuto would have given him hashi's DNA without any other intention to do so. But like Madara, it could take him a whole life time before the eye's actually awaken.

As many people think that Kabuto actually said he used senju DNA to empower his healing abilities to quickly resuscitate Sasuke not directly give it to him. It is also not clear if ashura's/indra's chakra/power stays in their past transmigrants.

No, that's because, "Ashura's, Indra's, and Kurama's chakra mixed." (Or something like that, I can't remember the exact, specific scan.) That implied that Ashura's and Indra's (Hagoromo's since that's how Madara obtained the Rinnegan) and Kurama's mixed (Kurama's was inside the Gedou Mazou). Madara was in a sense, the vessel. Also, how would Hashirama still have Ashura's chakra if it moves from host to host?
