... Obviously. That was kind of the plan.
Probably.
The problem is, Indra inhabits Sasuke's soul (If I'm not mistaken) so would he keep Indra's genes/chakra?
No, it took a lot more than DNA and chakra to awaken rinnegan, even now madara not sure how he awoken rinnegan at his death bed at age of like 100++
He wanted the Rinnegan the whole time... So yeah. Trying to obtain the Sharingan, experimenting on Hashirama's DNA, forming theories and hypotheses on the Rinnegan...
That's what I was meaning, lolLol
Thats it, right there^
That would be an interesting situation.
The mind AND soul of Oro, Sasukes body, and Indras soul/chakra
Sure it'd take some time to awaken. But Orochimaru is immortal. He'd have had plenty of time.
Yup, if he had stolen Sasuke's body....even then he still would have failed to obtain the Rinnegan, because Ashura and Indra=Hagoromo's chakra, which brings about the Rinnegan. By the time Sasuke had been born, Ashura's chakra had left Hashirama and passed on to Naruto. So taking Hashirama's DNA shouldn't help, unless Ashura's chakra still remains within his DNA, which shouldn't be the case at all.
There is a flaw I'm your logic. Madara obtained the Rinnegan near the end of his lifespan. By that time, Hashirama was long dead. Why didn't Ashura's chakra leave?

This is the first time i seen you outside the vs section. It had nowhere to go. Not to mention he got Ashura's chakra when Hashirama was still alive. The Rinnegan itself didn't surface until later, for unknown reasons.

It had places to go, it just... didn't. For the convenience of plot, most likely.
Still, it makes little sense for the chakra to remain in Hashirama until Naruto's birth, and leave him only then. Logically, the transmigration would end upon Hashirama's death, and then float around until it found another successor.
Madara was revived with the Rinnegan because he had it in his lifetime. Kabuto didn't create it, its just a trait of Edo Tensei. The reason why they are fake is because they are made via Edo Tensei's powers. Also, I suspect that the way in which Kabuto made the fake Rinnegan was precisely through inserting Hashirama's DNA into Madara's corpse.
In any event, once the chakra had left Hashirama, wouldn't it make sense that, if what you say is true, all of Ashura's essence would have gone into Naruto? And likewise for Sasuke? This would imply that Madara would no longer be Indra, and that Hashirama would no longer be Ashura. The Indra and Ashura qualities of Madara's chakra would vanish, which should have led to the loss of the Rinnegan (for Nagato, since Madara was dead by this point).
I think that that the amount of chakra each successor receives is diluted over the generations, because some of the essence remains behind in the previous successor.
well put sirI guess that makes sense, but since Madara got Hashirama's power before he died, its all moot.

Nope. The mi xing of Ashura and Indra's chakras awakens Hagoromo's chakra. So even without Ashura and Indra's powers, he has already obtained Hagoromo's chakra (Which won't leave him like the brother's chakra would) and that is what is needed for the Rinnegan.
Nothing of the sort was implied, so I highly doubt it is true.
