I've been playing through LeafGreen to start off my Pokemon game marathon with my sister and I've done pretty much everything there is to do apart from catch Mewtwo and catch Raikou (yes, I started with Squirtle because Blastoise is a boss even though Venusaur is the best battler). My strategy to catch Raikou is to find it in the grass by going into a route with low level Pokemon and using repels until I find it (no luck so far but oh well) and then using the Masterball on it. Mewtwo, however, will be a pain to catch since I will not have a Masterball. My question to you is "What would your strategy be for catching a Level 70 Mewtwo with Psychic, Safeguard, Recover and Swift without a Masterball?"

I was planning on making a team to catch Mewtwo:
Hypno - Good special defence, resists Psychic and has Hypnosis.
Kingdra - Smokescreen so none of its godlike Psychics hit. Has Rain Dance to counter my Tyranitar's Sand Stream
Tyranitar - Completely walls Mewtwo because of its typing. Using Tyranitar to weaken Mewtwo. Only problem is Sand Stream ability
Marowak - False Swipe. Because he's not that strong, I was going to use him once Mewtwo has -6 accuracy and is low on health.
Parasect - Spore (in case Hypno faints or loses Hypnosis PP)
HM Slave - just to get to get through the cave.

All of these, besides the HM Slave, will be around Level 60. Please, share some strategies so I don't have to waste time raising these Pokemon. I was thinking of using Chansey but that's even harder to catch. :(

So, what would your strategy be?

Use a dark type and stock up on timer and dusk balls.

Dusk Balls aren't available in LeafGreen. I'm using Tyranitar as he (apart from Umbreon and Houndoom both of which you can't get in Leaf Green) is the only good Dark type in the game. I will buy lots of Timer Balls though, thanks.

Save before the fight, get it's health down REALLY low, use some sort of status changing move like paralyze, sleep or something along those lines, and use a pokeball of some sort, probably an original pokeball because I'm that guy, to catch it.

Who levels up more than one Pokemon? Lol I would keep them up with my main but regardless, I had one beast and the others bought me time to revive him if he dies.

Use a pokemon that knows shadow tag to prevent Raikou from escaping..then you could catch him

Use a master ball to catch mew two
There's an ingame glitch which makes roaming dogs using Roar disappear forever...

2)Get a masterball on emerald and do the cloning glitch , bam infinite masterballs
3)trade them over to firered and leaf green

wtf, are you crazy ?

Raikou can be caught with an ultraball, while Mewtwo is impossible except for a Masterball.

They both have the same catch rate. I only get one turn to catch Raikou, however, but Mewtwo can be fought over and over (provided I save before).

That's a tad bit long, don't you think? Besides, I'm doing this more for the challenge aspect rather than just catching him.

Put it to sleep or paralyze it I can't remember which one is even better for the catch rate though.

When catching Mewtwo you need patience.

First hit him with stat lowering moves, than begin to highten your defenses.

Than try and hit him with hypnosis, so that you can weaken him without recover.

Than of course when he wkes up, he'll use recover, but thats why you need to lower his stats, so recover doesnt work as much.

Once hes back in the red, use hypnosis again, than throw ultra balls, if that doesn't work, prolong the battle as long as possible and use timer balls.

Works for me everytime. No matter what team im using.

Yes I read the post. The doggy can be caught with other balls. However, mewtwo is damn near inpossible to catch without the master all.
