I've noticed that this arc has always gotten the most heat from a lot of people, especially some one piece fan's because of it's apparent "irrelevancey" to the plot as stated by those people how they found it extremely boring as well.

I do kind of feel the same way as well although this is probably the only arc in one piece that I found to be meh.

What are your thought's on this arc? You guys feel the same way or do you differ?

In the anime it down right sucks! In the manga it's fun and short but the beef a lot of ppl have with it is that not much progression really happens, it's sorta like a mini break after the longest arc in OP, afro-Luffy and Aokiji though ;)

But yea it's my least fav if we exclude the ending

It gets too much hate.
It's an okay arc, just compared to the others it is, like you said, meh.

It was alright. I found it humorous at times, I always find myself laughing at OP in every arc. It was longer than I would have liked since it was hardly relevant. The ending however, with Kuzan more than made up an distaste I might have acquired from Foxy. It's not that I didn't like it, I just didn't love it like other arcs.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised to see Foxy in the New World, I wonder if he'd be crazy strong :rage:

I think you people are either judging too harsh or are too much of hipsters to admit you like something. The Davey Back Fight arc was good and had some cool stuff that should be brought back. For example Afro Luffy is possibly the greatest Luffy we've seen yet. Also, Foxy's DF was op man, look at how much damage a joke like Foxy could do with it. The guy was physically weak but still was able to inflict heavy damage, imagine if Jimbei or Zoro had it, 30 seconds of swordslashes or fishman karate = fatality, Flawless Victory. It had a good amount of comedy in it as well, I enjoyed it.

The afro made it worth it.
I just got done reading it actually.
Is everyone re-reading the manga all the sudden?

It was a funny little detour, and served it's purpose of being a bit of light fun in between some bigger serious archs.

One piece is pretty good at that, breaking it up which gives the reader time to breath and be ready for the next heavy thing.
If it was just heavy after heavy after heavy, the manga would become tidious and heavy, but by breaking it up and allowing the reader to breath, it doesn't loose impact.

It quite litterately goes like this.

Skypia arch; Heavy arch.

Foxy pirates; A breath of air, time to relax.

Water seven/Enies Lobby; very heavy arch.

Thriller bark; We need to have some fun now before things get serious again.

Marine ford; Oh god why!? Cries.

Return of the straw-hats and fishman island arch; We just had soooo much heavy stuff going on, time to have some fun before we go back to being seriousl.

Punk Hazzard/Dressrosa; .. do I need to adress this one? Do I?

So yes, there's a point to it! and I am quite sure after Dressrossa is over, there'll be a tiny little fun filler to have the crew relax and just have fun with each other again, before we move on to the next epic thing.

I don't think Thriller Bark could be considered in the same style as the Davey Back Fight arc. Zoro almost died and Kuma wrecked shop plus they add a crew member.

Also that was more of the bridge event, bridging Thriller Bark to Sabboday, than it was an actual Thriller Bark event.

If you look at the final boss battle of that arch, against Moria, it has a lot more jokes and is a lot more light hearted than the previous boss battles.
Also, I find it to be an interesting one because it's the only time I can think off where all the straw-hats suddenly forms together as one unity in battle, playing a battle stragedy as one group. Really showcasing how close and familiar they have gotten to each other, which just makes the next even that more tragic.

And then of course.. We also spend half of that Arch with Usopp, Nami and Chopper being stuck on a Zombie island, screaming their heads off. And then Luffy and Co. Encounter the exact same things they did priorly, only now.. no shits are given. And the places group Usopp were running from is just utterly destroyed by group Luffy.. it's funny to me X)
