no because Gaara will still be awake but just in genjutsu.

Itachi has genjutsu that forces you to obey him remember , not KA but it works.
He can cast you in genjutsu and still move around while you are still in genjutsu by yourself. (like he did against Deidara)

Let's just say, Sasuke who was aspiring to be as strong as itachi, suppressed naruto's kyuubi chakra with 3 tomoe.

Itachi (genjusu/visual genjustu espert) can surpress gaara's tailed beast chakra.

He can use Suiton to end him too.

Any genjustu and suiton can beat kid gaara, he hasn't had any encounter with immense genjustu at that age.
