Imagine it. Obito simply watched Rin die, and while I'm not saying that that was necessarily the worst move Kishi could have played, imagine if Obito's father commited suicide, he received a Sharingan eye from his dead teammate, he literally had to KILL his other teammate, and his sensei died soon after. Would you not agree that would maybe have made his motives a little bit more easy to agree with?

Indubitably so. While Uchiha Obito is a quintessential character and has received ample development, his "light" argument, is not very convincing. Kakashi went through far more. Father committing suicide, Having to forcefully kill his friend, his best friend "dying" and his sensei dying in a short period of time. Kakashi has far more of a "motive" to become evil. If Obito had this it would symbolize a "breaking point" and make his motives far more convincing. Instead of spouting what he says now, he could babble on about how everything in his life just.... died. Everything. Everyone.

It would have been better if obito lost his parents and was forced to become a ninja to support his younger sister, him not wanting to fight would bring a bad name yo his family and people would shun him out, however he does his best to protect his sister and lives on as a ninja in minato's team....... Later on he is "killed" (supposedly) and his sister dies due to the fact that she was alone (minato and his team mates of course would try to help he out however it proves to be to much for them) not only that the girl that obito liked is also killed, when he finds out that both the people he loves are dead he would do his best to change the world and stop war (although by creating another war) and of course he would mainly fo it for his sister that was forgotten by almost everybody.

I dunno, to me the big thing about obito is the fact that Madara warped his mentality on things, rin was the catalyst but it was his meeting Madara, and his ideals that changed Obito more than anything.

That would be true if Obito was a normal person but he is a Uchiha and as stated by Tobirama, Uchiha when losing someone/something they love it turns into a greater hatred. Madara Uchiha is also responsible as to why Obito turned out the way he did.. he could've been saved if Minato was there for him but then again Minato didn't know he was alive.

Take out the Madara factor, and Kakashi had more reason to be Tobi than Obito ever did.
