Did you read my post?! Helped Seal Sasori and Deidara, and SEVERAL members of the 7 shinobi Swordsmen. Kakashi specifically depended on Sai to do this. Neji struggled with some Zetsu, then threw himself in front of some splinters.

While saving her he makes himself the hero and restores her value in a sense that her father took away. His death also leaves only her and her little sister as the leaders of the future and gives Naruto's talk no jutsu ninja way a power up.
