3rd mizukage will have no chance but to send the only one who can protect the village against pain and he will fight pain outside the village

He will wait for pain outside the village and preparing for the ambush .

pain is weak against taijutsu and kinjutsu that's made both of me and mizukage believe that zabuza has great chance to protect mist village against pain attack !!

Zabuza is weaker than pain but his skills are enough to beat pain with his 6 paths but he needs strategy !!

i will explain how the demon of hidden mist will take down the leader of akatsuki and i will exlpain how zabuza can beat pain with providing logics and facts from manga about their ability

1- first zabuza must use Hiding in Mist Technique so he can blind nagato in the mist .

2- zabuza will use his skill in taijutsu and kinjutsu because nagato can absorb ninjutsu .
Then zabuza will aim to pain paths and destroy them one after another by creating 6 clones and he must use his skill with the Kubikiribōchō to make sure they are all destroyed

3- nagato will try to use naraka path in order to revive his destroy path,
too bad for nagato because zabuza can see through the mist and he will use his ultimate jutsu Great Waterfall Technique which it will make sure that pain paths are destroyed.

finally !! Pain failed miserably and kirigakure is saved and pain had no chance but to retreat .
thanks to the demon of the mist for protecting the Will of blood against pain attack ..

Your main problem is assuming that Pain won't do anything, Nagato has proven to be a very clever shinobi and will likely use Shinra Tensei (Once the other Paths were a safe distance) or use Preta Path's abilities to remove the mist (Considering this is a jutsu, I assume that the mist is Ninjutsu based).

Good try though, I would love to see Zabuza prove somewhat of a challenge to Pain.

Shinera tensei didn't kill any ninja in konoha it only destroyed the building.

2) his chakra was low and that's killed him ..
