Alright, so lets say Gamabunta's oil did require water to seep through Gaara's sand, what stops him from spewing his own oil towards Gaara, while augmenting it with his very own water cannonballs [You must be registered for see links]?
I see. That makes sense. Though, what about SasoriOfTheRedSaand's method?
Oil doesn't dissolve in water, thus they don't mix. Simple chemistry, really. The oily water that was stated to be Gaaras weakness is a special substance only innate to the trollkage.
Gamabuntas oil will still affect Gaaras sand, however. It just wouldn't turn it into the useless mush seen when it came in contact with the Trollkages oily water; but rather, it'll most likely clump up together due to it's sticky and thick properties.
