Theory: Why Minato is using hand signs for FTG

The way I see it, there's 2 options since he's never needed them before.

1. Minato can use hand signs to teleport to locations he hasn't marked.

Minato has only marked the locations for the barrier. All of these locations were a good distance away. We haven't seen any new ones. Yet he's using FTG. This would indicate that he can teleport to locations without seals. This also explains how they all teleported to the battlefield.

Another thing that makes me think so is this.

How's he going to stop them? He hasn't even touched Naruto or Sasuke, yet he's going to use FTG. I don't think he's using the seal he put on Obito since he hasn't used it against him as Juubito yet.


2. FTG is part of his prep for his new jutsu.

This is the other possible reason. Is this new jutsu related to FTG and it requires hand signs?

i doubt his new jutsu has anything to do with the hand signs.

Number 1 is impossible. You do know that he's marked Obito already right? He can just port to Obito and save Naruto and Sasuke that way. What do you mean he hasn't used it on Obito yet? He teleported to him in an attempt to cut him down before he became the Juubi'sJin.

Number 2 is unlikely. His clone probably only used the handsign to call the original to his position.

It would likely have a speed limit considering Tobirama's statement to Minato. Also, why's he wondering if he'll make it in time? Isn't his standard FTG instant?

@those saying he already had a seal placed.
the only seals on the battlefield are the ones for the kage barrier, and the real minato is standing there.
clones minato didn't warp there, meaning he warped to a location without seal. this is proven after clone minato actually had to warp the real minato to his location, which means that there was some distance between the two.

maybe:
ftg without hand signs = teleport to seal

ftg with hand sign = teleport without seal

Yeah, but why not do all this sooner? Why run towards him? I think the seal must have been dissolved by the Juubi's chakra or something.

Good question, I got nothing for that U_U. Maybe he is trying to set something up with the Kunai before he starts hopping around to attack him? He also probably didn't want to just rush in and hit him like before because the other kage got fodderized real quick when they got close. Rather have a plan of attack is all I can say.

Looks like only the clone used it. Maybe it's because the clone doesn't have the same mastery as Minato himself. Similar to how the three jonin were required to use handseals together to use it.
