While looking up symbols today I came across the symbol on hashirama's forehead.
"CIRCUMPUNCT - CIRCLE with DOT (BINDU) in the center:* It represents the sun and a sun god"

The circle with the dot is the Buddhist symbol for the sun. Therefore, since kishi does a lot of Buddhist symbolism then hashirama's sage mode is Sun Sage Mode. He's the God of the sun while Madaras the God of the moon. It works perfectly because his trees like trees in real life Need the sun to survive.
