Very nice theory, I have some factors that you may be able to respond to. Oro's immortality seems to be his number 1 goal, being the ultimate being following in a close second. In order to be the ultimate being he would need to be the Juubi's host. However, Oro's immortality seems limited to his spirit and not his body, so he has to continually get a new body. If he becomes the Juubi host, he will lose the Juubi when he changes bodies the next time. So it doesn't seem like he can attain his goals indefintely.
If Oro's research was so thorough, which I believe it was, he would have known that Tobi was Obito, so why did he not pursue him from the beginning, before he got too powerful to handle? Also if rennigan was his ultimate objective with Sasuke, why did he not pursue Nagato?
Final comment to help your theory that you left out, Oro attempted to capture the 3-tails, which would go along with the ultimate goal of obtaining the Juubi.
I could see this happening, because I cannot see Orochimaru becoming a protagonist. I can understand Nagato. I can understand Sasuke. I can understand Obito. I cannot understand Orochimaru.
Orochimaru is the first major villain of Naruto Series.... He is an evil and selfish genius.... He's not someone who the good side have been able to get rid off.... His jutsu was taken away by Hiruzen,He was absorbed by Sasuke,Sealed by Itachi.... Yet Orochimaru is still there.... He has got his jutsu back plus he has a Hashirama Cell Powered Zetsu Body....
But he seems to be acting a bit off character lately.... Helping the good side.... Of course he got his Jutsu back.... So what relevance he has now with Madara and Obito there to stomp The Alliance..?? Has he changed or will he backstab Sasuke and Edo Hokages..??
I reread Orochimaru related chapters once again and I think I have got an idea of what Orochimaru's original plan was and what Orochimaru might do next in the manga.... So lets begin.... I hope you all enjoy it....

Orochimaru's Goals and Their Requirements
Orochimaru's Goals....
- Orochimaru wants to uncover all the secrets of Nature.
- Orochimaru wants to learn all Jutsus in existence.
- Orochimaru wants to become Immortal.
- Orochimaru wants to be "The Ultimate Being." That's what he calls the one who is immortal and who knows everything....

Requirements to reach his goals....
- Extensive and Deep Knowledge (He achieved it through years of Research)
- Expertise in various Jutsus (He achieved it as well.... He's got a great knowledge of Fuinjutsu.... Him being able to find a way to unlock RDS and get back his jutsu is a proof of it)
- Sharingan (He's craved for Sharingan since long.... It will help him master jutsus quickly because of Sharingan's copying abilities)
- Rinnegan (He needs Rinnegan the most if he wants to learn all jutsus in the world.... It will help him master all Chakra Nature Types)
- A Strong Body (Even though he has apparently achieved immortality.... He failed to master DSM and other such jutsus which require huge Chakra reserves and cause strain on body.... Fortunately he currently has Hashirama cell powered Zetsu body)
Orochimaru continued experimenting on people from different clans and tried to uncover the secret behind each clan's special abilities.... He finally got a real deal when he studied Jugo's Clan....
Birth Of Orochimaru's Cursed Seals
Orochimaru studied Jugo's abilities and realised that Jugo could use Senjutsu Chakra.... But Jugo couldn't control it so Jugo and his Clan members would ocassionaly go wild and murder anyone in sight.... Orochimaru discovered that the source of Jugo's clan's powers was Ryuchi Cave.... Orochimaru trained there to learn Dragon Sage Mode but failed to master it because Oro's body wasn't strong enough and didn't have huge Chakra Reserves....

Orochimaru came up with a technique to allow his followers to use Senjutsu Chakra.... By using the Cursed Seals.... Orochimaru developed the cursed seals through experimentation on Jūgo, whose body naturally produces an enzyme that triggers bodily transformations, on which the cursed seal is based. The seal forcefully absorbs a user's chakra while giving Orochimaru's own Senjutsu Chakra into the user's body in return, granting enhancements comparable to those of Sage Mode....While the enhancements granted by the cursed seals are noteworthy, they mostly are inferior in comparison to those of Sage Mode....

Orochimaru usually gave his cursed seal to....
- Guinea Pigs as test subjects or
- His most powerful and unique followers or
- To prepare them to become a potential host bodies in the future.
That's where Sasuke came into the picture.... Making Sasuke his host would give Oro access to his most craved KKG.... The Sharingan....
Orochimaru and Sasuke Uchiha
Sasuke's body was extremely important for him.... Sasuke was not only a strong host body but also "The Key" to all of Oro's dreams.... You can see how obsessed Oro is with Sasuke's body in the pictures below....

Now when you see the above images.... Oro says in the first pic with great excitement.... "Yes.... My Future is in this child...."
But why is he so excited and what was he talking about the future..??
Well.... I think Sasuke "was" the key to Oro's "Plan"
Oro wanted to become "The Ultimate Being".... Becoming The Ultimate Being using Sasuke "was" Oro's Former Plan....
So what was his Plan and why I'm saying it "was" his plan..??Well.... Lets see....
The Original Plan
Simply put.... Oro's plan after taking Sasuke's body was.... To pull a Madara.... Oro wanted to take Sasuke's body and then awaken The Rinnegan....
You must be registered for see images

It is evident form Kabuto's and Madara's talk in the pictures above that Oro and Kabuto tried to uncover the secrets of The SO6P and Rinnegan by using his and Kabuto's years of research.... Their Hypothesis about Sharingan Evolution was correct as well.... It also explains why Oro craved Sharingan so much....
I think Oro wanted to take Sasuke's body first and then kill Itachi and take his eyes but unfortunately for Oro.... Sasuke absorbed him first and when he tried to take control of Sasuke's body Itachi sealed Oro....
Now.... I'll share why I said using Sasuke "was" Oro's plan....
The Dream Vessel
Orochimaru is a lucky guy.... He was defeated thrice.... Once by Hiruzen, once by Sasuke and once by Itachi.... But still he's the one who's gained a lot and will gain even more under the current situation.... The current situation is favourable for him.... Oro has his jutsu back and he's got a Zetsu body powered by Hashirama cells....
If Oro can pull things off successfully then Oro can get his "Dream Vessel"....
Considering Oro's goals.... His Dream Vessel must have....
- A Strong Body capable of executing DSM successfully.
- Sharingan
- Rinnegan
So.... Most of you might have guessed it by now.... For those who didn't.... If Oro can get his hands on "him".... Oro's Ideal Vessel is....
Obito Uchiha
You must be registered for see images
If Oro takes Obito's body.... Oro can get his hands on Sharingan as well as Rinnegan.... Plus Obito's body is half Senju and half Uchiha.... Obito has shown great Chakra Levels during the war.... Oro can use his body to use DSM as well....
If Oro is successful in getting Obito's body.... He will try to become the Jubbi's Jinchuriki.... Oro had studied about The Rinnegan and wants to be The Ultimate Being.... So Oro wouldn't miss such an opportunity of becoming The Jubbi's Jinchuriki....
Conclusion
- Oro is just going with the flow....
- He is no more interested in Sasuke's body....
- According to Oro's goals.... His Ideal Vessel is Obito....
- Oro will try and take over Obito's body.... That's his Grand Plan....
- If Oro is successful in getting Obito's body.... He may even go as far as trying to Seal The Jubbi within himself and be it's Jinchuriki....
i read it all, though one thing is missing and seems you miss to understand. Orochimaru has already achieved on his own, immortality. I am not saying he is the best shinobi or whataver, but just stating he has achieved his ultimate goal, and for plot work, he feels lonely. I do believe, that because of that harmful way he always carried, somehow fighting with ppl he admired has turned his path a bit.
Look at Sasuke, team 7 and the rest of the bunch... Very idealistically, the end is rising and on this ending in particular, mr.evil-snakes looks like grabing a one last stand redemption bisquit. (Not morally worth of, but one anyways)
The only thing I disagree with is that he is after Obito. Oro has stated even recently that it is Sasuke that he wants but he is not strong enough yet.
He doesn't need Obito's Hashi cells b/c he has those already. It is still Sasuke that Oro wants b/c he recognizes that Sasuke is for Ocular Jutsu what Naruto is for Physical/body energy chakra. Uchiha have incredibly strong bodies. They handle the Sharingan wih ease but it has almost killed Kakashi several times so Uchiha bodies are strong too, just not as strong as Senju/Uzamaki bodies.
Everything else you said is spot on!!! I am very impressed and glad that I am not the only one who recognizes Oro will be the final villain. He is more serious of a villain than Obito and Madara.
Think about it. Oro is the reason many enjoyed the manga more in the past that they do now. Oro is crafty, cunning, unpredictable, scary, and creepy yet eccentric which draws readers/viewers in.
When Oro arrives the story live will get better and we will see Kishi at his best.
Madara is solely focused on Hashi which gets boring.
Obito's entire story line is garbage since he was revealed to be tobi/obito. It really would have been better if tobi = Shisui (considering he had only one eye and wanted shisui's eye when they fought Danzo)
But I digress... Oro is sheer epicness and now that he has Hashi cells, all he needs is Uchiha body/eyes and he will reveal his plot to be the new SO6P
im loving the hardwork and time youve put into this thread and yes, i read it all.
Oro going after Obitos body is old news man. =(
BUT
still a very good theory. i too have thought for a while that he is just standing back.
i mean, why join in a fight when you can stand back and allow your allies and opposition to kill each other off.
its a much safer stratedgy and if it works his opponents will be very weak making it an easier job for him.
that cursed seal will probably allow orichimaru to enter sage mode as easily as the first, unlike naruto and jiyra who needed the toads help. also, that scroll probably contains the secret of becoming one with jubii. Im pretty sure orichimaru is the final villian, its just a question of whos body he will take. And i believe kabuto will be the key to naruto defeating orichimaru
Excellent theory! I really love this idea because the manga needs a villain. Obito is getting talk no jutsu'd, while it seems Madara has become obsessed with Hashi and is worried about nothing else. I think Oro is evil at heart and will never change, I hope this happens.
I could see this happening, because I cannot see Orochimaru becoming a protagonist. I can understand Nagato. I can understand Sasuke. I can understand Obito. I cannot understand Orochimaru.
A good effort as well as a good theory with hard proofs. Nicely done bro...

BTW : Itachi was Oro's former host and that's the reason after joining akatsuki and paired with Itachi, he got an advantage to take over his body. But as the Uchihas say, Nothing can hide from these eyes. Oro failed and lost his hand. Then he planned for Sasuke.
If what you're telling about Obito being Oro's next host then he must figure out to reach in the Kamui dimension or a way to beat Obito since Obito got a rinnegan as well as a sharingan to fight back Oro.
Then Oro having a Hashirama cell powered Zetsu body.... but if that body gets cut down like other white Zetsus on the battlefield then Oro's story ends there or who knows what'll happen in a never dying villain's life.
Key to Oro's success is either Sasuke or Obito and we yet has to know what reason he gave to Sasuke's question.....
Nice one, but Oro shit his pants at the mention of Itachi!! Considering that, Obito is just too much for Oro..And for those who think that Oro will be the final villain, they are missing one important thing....Obito started the series and he will also END it!!..
Orochimaru has never expressed any or even hinted a desire to take obito's body.
Orochimaru could not use his sage mode because his host body was too weak all thanks to itachi forcing him to leave his original body.
Also taking his body would do nothing for him.
Obito never achieved the rinnegan so his body is useless to him.
Orochimaru already has senju dna so the only thing obito's body would offer is his sharigan and is dragon sage mode oro has the ability to close lids to block out all visual genjustu.
So taking his body would offer some bonuses but,not exactly what he is looking for.
sasuke is the one was invested in because of his potential.
And right now that plan is on the back burner because he is interested in his new path.
I would not put it pass him if he did attempt to take obito's body if he had the chance but,he never had that in mind and obito is off limits right now since he is in his kamui dimension
I would go into details but it isn't required as I agree with you at everything you stated, besides one small problem =D
I won't see Oro being main villian any more, not even mentioning possibility of him becoming Juubi Jinchurki
It would be simple retarded idea in my opinion
Isn't it impossible to gain all the jutsu in the world? there are jutsu, like amateretsu and kamui, that depend on the sharingan eye. If oro choosees Obito, he misses out on amateretsu. He needs to find where Obito's Lab is (which he may know already) before taking over Obito.
Also, Oro just took over a zetsu. Before, the timer for the jutsu was 3 yrs (he couldn't use the jutsu for 3 yrs after using it). But, as we know, HS DNA screws with jutsus that have a long "cool down" timer. We know this when Itachi said to naruto ~if you had senju dna, the timer for suishi's MS abilities would decrease.
So, we don't know if Oro could take Obito's body soon.
Great work and excellent theory as always bro....... =D
Loved reading it from the start to the end and its really awesome read. theories like this makes NB alive and enjoyable for me since most of the times its a TB (Troll base ) now a days... I wish I could give 10 plus reps.
Excellent read bro but I beg to differ at the dream vessel point mainly for two reason here because : -
Orocimaru wanted the sharingan from the very beginning and as you have pointed out he has thoroughly researched about it as well.
So he know the True power of MS is awakened when both the MS are with the wielder and Obito has only one Sharingan.
Inorder to use the one of the ultimate third power Susanno the wielder must be able to control both the MS.
Also Obito has a MS on other hand Sasuke has EMS.
Plus he know if Sasuke awakens the Rinnegan he would be most powerful Uchicha after Madara
So considering his research and his witty nature I am sure he will not go for Obito since he will not be able to utilize the full power of the MS.

Final comment to help your theory that you left out, Oro attempted to capture the 3-tails, which would go along with the ultimate goal of obtaining the Juubi.

Oro has better reasons for being the Final Villain with Obito's body and Jubbi's Jin imo.... It's perfectly in line with his goals.... It's the kind of the thing that slowly builds up throughout the series.... If you look at Oro's journey from the beginning and his goals then the current situation places him ahead of Madara and Obito in the race to be the Final Villain.... Obito has lost hope in Reality and that's why he's the villain right now.... But I think Kakashi will TnJ him and make him place his faith in Naruto.... Madara is interested in showing Hashi that he has surpassed Hashi.... Now Oro has been a consistent bad guy.... And Kishi sama had to make Itachi seal him b4 giving Obito character development.... Oro has been never so close to his goals as he is now.... =D =D
He's in a Zetsu body powered by Hashi cells currently.... Obito too has a similar Zetsu body.... If you remember Danzo could use KA in a few hours because he had Hashi cells.... It would have taken 10 years to use KA again without Hashi cells.... So the time limit won't apply because of Hashi cells involved here.... =D =D

I totally agree with the first part of your reply. But I don't agree withe the 2nd part. It is a fact that Orochimaru was after Sasuke for a long, long time. But Sasuke got ahead of him and 'absorbed' Oro. (Not sure if that's the right word xD.) He couldn't have gone after Obito since he was locked inside Sasuke. And going after Nagato would be absurd, since Nagato's body was extremely weak and Oro needs a strong host body.
And I would also like to give a huge deal of respect to this theory. I'm convinced that Oro is still up to something. He's not the kind of person to make a 180 and turn good. That slick snake definitely has something up his sleeve. I don't think he's after Obito, but this thread was really well-made and facts were used to back this theory up. It actually made me doubtfull about oro's intentions haha. I think he hasn't been with a woman for a long time and needs to get laid.
