Not really. It was a flashback don't forget. When we first see Kakashi with a sharingan I doubt Kishimoto had thought of the complete backstory as to how he got it.

Imo he was disoriented and very emotional he was in shock. Also he says he just didn't care for Kakashi...my guess is at the time he was so fixated on Rin's death he just was apathetic towards anything that wasn't concerning her.
