I'm just curious if you have actually read One Piece all the way through. There is not a single person I have ever found that has read/watched both all the way to current and called One Piece bad. I have however found people to read both and say Naruto is bad.
Naruto's anime is pretty bad imo. The way they extend scenes with flashbacks we have seen over and over again just gets really annoying. I mean how many times do we have to flashback to Sasuke and Itachi when they were kids before the massacre. How many times do we have to watch Jiraiya tell Naruto about trying to find true peace during the Pain Invasion arc. They do this just to make it fill up and episode. I get why, but they can do it better. I mean we don't have to see Sasori's flashback taking up 8 minutes the episode after we just saw it. Just show us the key point of why you are showing the flashback and move on.
Now One Piece's Anime does it differently. They draw out suspense and have random people talking about events that just happened or ask what is going on and things like that. Of course One Piece can do this and make a 1:1 ratio of manga chapters per episodes. There is always so much content to read in One Piece chapters. Naruto has to do at least a 2:1 ratio and they STILL have to add flashbacks just to make one episode.
Now if you want to talk about the manga, Naruto's manga is good. Now we can debate about content, the story, character development, and morals that are intertwined in the story. However, One Piece just does it a bit better. EVERY character in One Piece gets screen time and there is always some development with them in each arc. Can't say that about Naruto. Even the main and sub protagonists. How about that Sakura screen time as of recent? How about that K11 screen time. Exactly. the story has went to overpowered techniques and the only people that matter are Senjus and Uchihas(or distant relatives to them).
How about the morals. Trying to find true peace in the world is good and all, but it cannot be achieved. The only way it will be achieved in Naruto is with some fantasy that could never be implemented in real life. One Piece on the other hand has so much more. We get things like slave trading and discrimination as topics in One Piece. Some of the things in One Piece kids should not be watching. Like how Sanji's mentor ate his own leg so he wouldn't have to starve to death, or what happens to those slaves after they get sold. Yeah.
Lastly, the storyline. Both are really good. If they weren't good, there would be no reason for me to be here right now. There is good and bad(more good then bad) about both manga's. One Piece has less bad though.

The only relevant slaves in the story were put up for display, and it would take personal knowledge for an educated guess on how they'll end up. As for Zeff's leg, I don't really see it as a problem. It's not like the series showed Zeff ripping his leg off and eating it for his survival. They only mention it to add to the dramatic effect.

I don't see it as a problem, because if I were to remove most of the flashbacks it wouldn't be as good of a show. Many of the flashbacks are those reminders or just add onto the story's quality. In the manga, doing these flashbacks wouldn't be the same (Unless we're talking about Naruto vs Sasuke Final Valley or Naruto vs Pain, etc). Also, just for the record, in case you haven't noticed, the art style itself can be pretty sloppy at times, as well as the animation. I wouldn't go as far as to call every animation crappy, but the thing about Naruto's bad animation times is that the art quality is better and holds more detail. Referring to the anime and the manga here. This isn't to say One Piece is bad really, just putting it out there.

Heck, this isn't even limited to those. It can apply to TV sitcoms, comics, cartoons, movies, and way more than just this. In the end in this situation it really is down to preference, because Naruto vs One Piece in terms of who likes what more is very much debatable, as I said.

at first i thought naruto was a great manga,later after i've watched other animes i realised that it is a huge dissppointement,it is basically a huge troll where if there was a fight and a party has an uchiha that part will win.
kishimoto's way of keeping the viewers isn't by captivating plot and character and fight progressions,no it's by keeping the viewers frustrated by seeing every character get trolled by an uchiha,and making the viewers waiting for them to lose at some point.not to mention the trolling of naruto himself,since no matter how strong he gets he can't do a thing.
the message of naruto manga in part1 was believe in yourself and you can do it no matter how they belittled you.
part2 the message was clear,if you're not born elite,you'll die as fodder.

For those who just blindly voted for one without seeing both series, and gave a short response with complete bias, please take note of these two posts. This is how you debate and give a valid opinion that anyone from both sides will respect. I have read every chapter of One Piece and Naruto released so far and i find Naruto better in terms of the manga. I will not voice my opinion on either of the anime versions because frankly, i stopped watching both. I stopped watching Naruto because of the fillers and i stopped watching One Piece because of its animation/character designs. As for story/plot i go for Naruto. Now before anyone starts bashing on me let me just say this is completely my opinion and i will give you the reasons why i prefer Naruto.
1.) People like to say "One Piece has better character development" and yea ill give them that argument however, its those times when they go over the live's of characters that i don't care about to begin with, that i start losing interest in the story. Characters such as Usopp or Franky i just never really cared about and disliked it when they spent chapters upon chapters just shoving them down my throat.
2,) Very few Arc's have actually interested me. My ONE favorite arc was with the CP5, after and before that i was barely interested in the story. The most recent arc that just ended (the one with the gas guy) almost made me put down the manga completely. It felt more like a filler arc if anything. This new gladiator/tournament arc has caught my interest so far though.
3.)The fights hardly seem serious, and when they do, those are usually the better chapters. I don't know about you guys but there are times when i just cant seem to take a fight between two characters seriously because of the character designs. It is also the reason why i could not watch the anime and simply read the manga, The character designs are similar in both but there's just something about the characters not moving that lets me continue the story without face palming myself over and over.
I have more reasons but im bored now so ill just leave it at that. Having said all this however, I see neither Naruto, or One Piece as the best anime/manga, i was simply giving my opinion on why i prefer Naruto over One Piece
Ya, you are right about the character development. If you do not like the characters, then when they talk about them, it probably isn't your favorite part. I have heard of people not liking Usopp, but not Franky. It's interesting you feel that way.
Also, One Piece isn't about the fights. It is about the story between the crew and Luffy. This is why most people should read One Piece. If it is all about the fights, there are much better mangas/animes out there for just that. The best example would be DBZ. One Piece is labeled as an Adventure manga. It is a complete different vibe from the other 2 in the big 3. it is dumb when some people compare One Piece and Naruto and bring up points for one side where the other doesn't have it. Romance would be the best example for it. Although if you are reading One Piece for the romance only, you should find a new manga asap. That is the only thing One Piece doesn't have.
They will say stuff like Naruto has better romance then One Piece so therefore it is a better manga. If anyone is reading any manga for just one aspect, romance, the fights, the story, humor, etc, they should read manga that specialize in that one field. You will not get much out a manga that includes a general broad range of everything. One Piece has just about everything.
Note: I'm not saying this is what you are doing, I'm just saying it for others to read and see why comparing them for that reason is dumb. I totally respect your opinion and glad you gave a detailed answer and having backed up your response with examples. More people should do that.

I'm going to try to address your paragraphs with my paragraphs and hopefully keep them on a 1:1 ratio so it will be easy to follow(doubting this since I tend to write a lot).
I wrote most of that for the people who think One Piece is childish because you hear that argument all the time. If it was so childish, the anime wouldn't have edited scenes from manga and made it so they were more kid friendly. Now given what is deemed as childish and too mature differ from country to country, or even household to household. One may find it to be perfectly fine, while others would find it to be horrifying. The point was the anime did edit it because they felt some would not like the original adaptation. Many of the topics i mentioned aren't really kid friendly. Also with the Zeff situation, in the anime, Zeff had loss his leg when he was rescuing Sanji in the ocean. A chain wrapped around his leg and he has to cut it off so he cant get tot he surface and breath. In the manga this happened.

Because Zeff gave all the food to Sanji, Zeff had to eat his own leg to live. In the anime they never mentioned that. Instead they shorten the time they were on that island from 90 day to 30 days so it would be believable Zeff starved for an entire month. In the manga, they both actually staved for almost 2 months since both of their food supplies ran out during the 1st 30 days (don't quote me on the exact time frames since its been awhile since I have read/watched this part).

The first part of Naruto actually had almost no fillers. There was a clip show with Konohamaru interviewing everyone before they went into the forest of death, a filler episode where they were trying to take off kakashi's mask, and a 5 episode filler of them doing a foot race in the land of tea. That isn't bad at all. Oh and of course filler hell at the end so they could let Shippuden get ahead. Of course almost everyone skips them so they really never watch it. In fact, most people skip filler anyways. What annoys me is when they tie canon into a filler episode so you have to practicably watch the filler episode just to get the canon out of it. Most people are only complaining about the fillers right now is because the anime is currently in fillers. Before that, it was my main argument. The flashbacks. I'm not talking about the flashbacks where we learn stuff about peoples pasts. I'm talking about when a character say something like "I can feel what Sasuke is going through" and then it shows the flashback of Itachi slaughtering everyone, then goes to showing Jiraiya talking about peace and for Naruto to find it if something happens to him, then it goes to showing Naruto and Nagato talking before he sacrifices himself, and then it gets back to the actual canon. This process takes up almost half of the episode, and then you get to watch all of that again the very next episode as flashbacks because someone thought about that same thing again.
This was done sooooo much during the first half of Shippuden. I mean after the fight with Sakura and Sasori, Sasori's flashback appeared at least 5 times after he died. I mean we JUST got done watching it at the end of the last episode, then you go and remind us of that again right at the beginning of the next episode. It gets really damn annoying. After the Pain arc however, it seems they cut back a bit on the flashbacks.
As for the animation quality, I don't care too much if its bad or good. drawing styles change over time. This is true for both One Piece and Naruto. Both mangas have been going on for 10+ years. Of course things are going to change. Technology is a big factor in this. Sure some episodes look like crap, but that isn't what is important and what determines if a anime/manga is good. It is the story. Simple as that. You brought up Ace's death. If the animation was bad for you, I can see it taking some impact from the story away, but not all of it. try to put yourself in Luffy's shoes during that time. You have a sibling you did everything with and who was your best friend. They go away for a bit, then you hear they are in trouble. You do whatever it takes to get to them. You finally get to them, but they are killed right by you. I mean the impact and the raw emotion that was displayed there, it was perfect. That emotion that Oda puts into his work is so amazing. That is what makes a good manga. The way the voice actors reenact those scenes is what makes the anime amazing. When you compare the major deaths in Naruto and One Piece, imo One Piece comes out on top. I could go into why but I'll be typing another 2 paragraphs explaining why so I will keep it short.

He was fighting Naruto and Sasuke just to test them and was brought out to be a c0cky sob. Later after we see him fight Gaara, it turns out we all like him. It is my opinion, but I feel Oda does a much better job then Kishi in this subject. Maybe the characters I said may will remind you as well and change your opinion.

Haha i knew i got the name wrong xD oh well. Yea i watch a whole bunch of different genres when it comes to anime, Romance, Action, Drama, Comedy, you name it. I do agree with you that One Piece is more about the journey itself and maybe that's why at times it gets a little stale in some arc's (for me that is) but overall both Naruto and One Piece do different things and it all comes down to what people prefer to see in there anime/manga. Don't get me wrong however, Naruto has also gotten stale for me a few times so don't think im just bashing on One Piece All in all, lets just all agree that Naruto and One Piece are both good at what they do and therefore this Naruto vs. One Piece nonsense should just stop xD

I love both of the series but I'm still going to go with One Piece. To me the One Piece world has more depth than the Naruto world. Also enjoy the uniqueness of the battles and I enjoy the comedy.
So if you had a store and you had 2 products one sells very well and the other one sells averagely, that probably won't mean very much it's just a coincidence that a lot more people like product A better.
If one piece sells a bit more then Naruto then I would agree with you but it sells 6x as much, it sells as much as the entire top 5 of anime combined, it sells 10's of millions more then Naruto, it blows it completely out of the park. No discussion possible.

I read both OP and Naruto and can unbiasedly say Naruto is better without bringing up sales (which don't matter), why can't you do that with One Piece??

You're beyond saving. Saying : 'You're trying to act as if you're opinion is fact by bringing up sales.; Is because it IS a fact. To get back to the Justin Bieber point/metaphore. He is the best in what he does in his style of music, even though I don't like it I can still admit it.
But that is something you can't, which is kinda sad. You may not like One Piece but you still have to admit that it is way more popular, sells a lot more, and has a way better build-up and world building than any other shonen.

Sales means a lot especially in Weekly Shounen Jump(and every manga magazine), not only because they want some profit outof it, but inside the magazine itself there was a competition to determined which manga is the best....................
mind that in WSJ there are some manga who have different genre such as Action,Comedy,Romance etc,
each genre compete with their own category, and One Piece and Naruto Fall under the same category which is why the manga compete in the Magazine, so basically both series tried to catches the same audience..........
and as we all know One Piece stomp in both overall rating and sales which is the vital point when it comes to manga comparison, its simple really, if your series selling/rated better than your competition that's mean you're the superior one, because people who buy the product now what they are buying and why the buy, that's the simplest reason why the other one is better
trying to denied such stated is merely a pathetic attempt to comfort one opinion,
by the way i can write an essay why One Piece is better than Naruto but its pain in the ass so i'll just do the easy way.
All in all, lets just all agree that Naruto and One Piece are both good at what they do and therefore this Naruto vs. One Piece nonsense should just stop xD
