Sorry, but no.

Minato was busy keeping the seal stable. If you look at the manga it clearly shows that he -ALMOST- failed to keep it intact due to the Kyuubi being very strong. He had no way of both fighting and maintaining the seal.

What pisses me off is that Hiruzen sent his wife in a dangerous place - hence the ANBU and the barrier - while he was chilling home.
