Hey guys, there's no need to wait for the DVD to come out, I'm making my own subs. I have no idea what anyone's saying, and there's a LOT of dialog so I'm going to ask for some help. Please make suggestions. Please post here but it if it's a phrase that would break the rules to post in a thread, PM me so you don't get in trouble.

Also I realize this is potentially really lame (some people hate trollsubs, some love them) so I'm willing to collaborate exclusively via PM from any volunteers as well.

EDIT: To be totally clear this is not even supposed to be a translation. It's a FAUXSUB. A creative effort. For example, this is a fauxsub:

Lol, you're translating it, but you do not speak Japanese? And your English is half ass at best. What you mean to say is that you're begging for somebody who is fluent in both languages to translate it for you, so that you can watch it a month sooner. Nice try.

How can somebody claim to be trying to translate something when they don't speak a single word of the language it is in? You're clearly begging for somebody who does speak the language to do the work for you. How do you plan on helping, exactly? Other than having them do the work, then watching it and taking credit for it.

That's not even what I'm trying to do.

Let him do his thing! haha but really how do you plan to go about that? Good idea, but you kinda need to know how to speak japanese to translate it :/

Actually, Korean, because only a dub is out right now. But I'm not even trying to translate it. It's supposed to end up being a trollsub. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear enough.

I know what you mean. You want to take the movie, and put the English stubs to it. Meaning translate it correctly, and put the dialogue over the video, at the correct points. I know what subbing is. My point is that you cannot sub something without being able to translate it. You can't translate it, so you're asking for somebody to do it. So you can watch it a month early. Go find a Japanese girl, and make her translate the whole thing. She'll do it for little stuffed animals, and Pokemon key chains.

You never said that at all. You didn't event kind of imply it. You claimed to be making the stubs so there wouldn't need to be another month long wait. That is what you said originally. Don't lie about it, sheesh. There are better places to beg for translations, you know?

Actually..... you don't know what I mean. What is this I don't even..... I already said twice that it's not a translation, does anyone even pay attention to what I say? You also keep getting the language incorrect. The version that is out is in Korean.

Maybe nobody is able to grasp what I'm even trying to do because they've never heard of such a thing as a fauxsub and can't wrap their heads around such a concept.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about:

Please stop rambling about you're personal issues...This is not the place to do it.

This same Cambria person posted in another thread telling people to be nice to subbers an give them a break and be patient because of all the hard work they do, while at the same time trashing people in this thread for doing the same kind of work. Making enemies on both sides is the way to go, apparently.

I'm not even looking for a translator, I was just looking for some people who might be interested in contributing bits of original dialog, collaboration is fun, and for myself to learn how to do subtitle timing and all that.

doing subs it's not hard, but it's a pain in the ass, specially for a 1h45m movie. it will take long and is very tedious!!
it will be a lot of effort just for a "trollsub" version xD

just a suggestion incase you go forward with it...
you can always read some resumes some people that watched the movie did (if you haven't already), that together with the knowledge you have of the series, guess you can make some parts quite accurate.
also, keep a txt file copy of the subs, cause if you manage to find someone that really understands the language to help, it will be far easier and faster to edit yours with the times already than making a new one from scratch.

good luck :)

That is a great tip, fortunately, I have watched at least two full synopses of the movie by people who saw it. They were posted on YouTube so I think I can probably make some parts as accurate as possible based on those. Such as the words one character says he repeats exactly again in another scene. I can reflect that in a trollsub by having them repeat themselves in that version as well. One part that I know I will probably have to make up out of nothing is where Menma's mask just comes off and he's talking, nobody ever said what he was talking about so I would just have to make it all up.

You should contact CloneCharizard on YouTube he's subbing the movie on his own from what I've heard and he knows some Korean so he can be great help.
